"Nate? It's the middle of the night, why are you awake?"
"Bee, I-"
"Are you okay? Nate it sounds like you're crying."
"Bea I don't know what to do."
"What's going on Nate? Just take a deep breath and tell me what's going on."
"Okay uh, about an hour ago a visitor came by. It was uh, it was Cody."
"What? But I thought he was living in Pennsylvania with your mom?"
"He uh, he was, and usually I'd be happy to see him."
"Then what's the problem?"
"Um, he came to tell me that, shit."
"It's okay, take your time."
"My mom died."
"Holy shit."
"Yeah."
"What can I do?"
"Nothing, I uh, just wanted to tell you I'll be gone for awhile. I'm going to go back to Pennsylvania with Cody to plan the funeral."
"Yeah totally, text me if you need anything while you're gone."
"I will."
"You should get some sleep if you're leaving for Pennsylvania in the morning."
"Yeah prolly."
"Nate?"
"Yeah Bea?"
"You are my best friend, you're strong as hell and I know you'll get through this, but I also know it'll be really hard. I want you to know that I will be a call away on the bad days, just like I am on the good ones, and if you need anything at all, just call me. Okay?"
"Okay. Bea?"
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
"Always."
