"Would you like anything else Miss Jenson?"Grimacing at the title, I gestured for the butler to come closer. When he did, I grabbed his shirt and pulled him down to eye level. Ignoring his pale face, I said. "Yes I would like something. Stop calling me Miss Jenson. My name is Sarah. Just Sarah. If you call me Miss Jenson one time like you don't have children that are older than me, I will break your fucking face."
Walt nodded too eagerly. "Of course Miss. Ma ... Sarah."
"Good." I let go of his shirt. I smiled a huge smile like nothing happened, tapping my empty glass. "More orange juice, please?"
"Right away." He hurried to the kitchen.
I had to admit, I'd never have seen him move that fast, not even when he was serving my parents. Perhaps I should start threatening people more often.
The image of my boyfriend with a girl that was not me flashed through my mind.
And I would start with flipping Anna.
But of course, the universe just had to be against me.
My schoolbag was held, stopping me from moving further, the moment my eyes landed on the redhead that was flipping Anna, who thought she was the queen of this school.
"Stop. Where are you marching to?"
I swore under my breath before turning to my best friend Todd, whose arm rested on the waist of his girlfriend, my other best friend, Wallace.
The two of them were Tinderland School's favourite couple, having been together since year 11, despite all the obstacles thrown their way by girls who liked Todd and guys who thought Todd didn't deserve Wallace.
With dark blonde hair that fell to his neck in slick ringlets, blue eyes, small lips that was pulled into a dashing smile most of the time, and a pointed nose that made up an angelic face which he did not deserve because he was anything but, Todd was what Americans would call the very cute boy next door. He was a troublemaker, an aspiring chef, adventurous and a risk taker.
Wallace was the opposite. With jet black hair that fell delicately on her waist, honey coloured eyes that made you feel like you could tell her anything, a dimple on her left cheek that made its appearance when she laughed or smiled that smile that never judged anyone, she was beautiful, almost too beautiful. She was a peacemaker and always ready to keep everyone in check, especially her overly adventurous boyfriend and her semi violent tomboy of a best friend, that was me.
I plastered a fake smile on my face. "Hello guys. Isn't it a beautiful day? The birds are chirping, the sun is shining ..."
Wally's eyes narrowed. "It's raining."
I looked outside to confirm that it was, indeed, raining. "Oh it is. Well then, isn't it a beautiful day? The birds are not chirping, the sun is not shining ..."
It was like I forgot I was talking to my friends. My best friends who could see right through me, and were used to my occasional moments of hilariousness.
"Nice try Sarah." Todd said. "Now where were you marching to?"
I laughed nervously. "You know, class."
He raised a brow. "School hasn't started yet."
"Of course!" Wally suddenly exclaimed, looking past my shoulder. She dragged her gaze back to me. "It's the redhead isn't it? You were marching to Anna!"
I hurriedly covered her mouth. "Don't scream so loud you bloody idiot! I still plan to kill her!"
Todd immediately came to his girlfriend's defence. "Don't call Wally an idiot."
