I looked beautiful.

I knew it, Aaron knew it and the world was going to know it. Literally and figuratively because I knew, I could feel it with every bone in my body, I was going to make something epic happen tonight and I had every plan of looking good while doing it.

Aaron grinned at our reflection in the mirror. "You look beautiful. Are you ready?"

"I didn't come all the way here for nothing."

"Good answer."

My phone buzzed at that moment with a text from Andy saying she was outside.

"Alright." I sat on the edge of the bed, tying the laces of my sport shoes. Aaron watched like it was the most mesmerizing thing ever, and with the way he was sighing and rubbing his arms, he wanted to say something.

"What is it Aaron?"

"I ... I don't like the idea of two ladies alone at night."

I checked my phone. "It's just 7pm."

"Yes for now, but when it's time to get back here, it'll later. I wish I could come with you."

I walked over to him, snaking my arms around his waist. "I would love that too, but we both know you can't." I released him, heading for the door. "Just be a good boy, and take care of Douglas okay?"

"Who's Douglas?"

"The dog."

He was genuinely confused. "What dog? There's no dog in here."

"I know." I closed the door.

My phone rang loudly as I made my way to the lift, Wally's name flashing across the screen of my Samsung because I would never ever, buy an apple product with its non-existent battery life.

"Wally."

"I am sorry! I'm just waking up."

"Isn't it 10 am there?"

"Add three more minutes."

"Why are you just waking up?"

"It's Saturday Sarah. I'm allowed to sleep in. Moving on to other matters, is it true?"

"You read my text didn't you?"

She squealed, sounding more excited than I was. "I can't wrap my head around it! It's finally happening!"

"And it's all thanks to Andy."

"Who's Andy?"

I didn't skip a beat. "My new best friend."

And then there was silence. A very loud, deafening silence.

"Wally? Are you there?"

Silence.

"Wally?"

"What the bloody hell do you mean your new best friend?" She screeched. Her voice was so loud I'd had to pull the phone away from my ear.

"Would you calm down?" I said as she kept ranting. "I was only joking! You're quite possessive of me aren't you?" I was laughing, no longer concentrating on where I was going, so I bumped into a hard chest.

I froze.

We were not close, but I knew that chest anywhere.

Bloody hell.

"Sarah."

"Hello father."

And then I bolted.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They stared at me. I stared at them. We stared at ourselves.
Unable to tolerate it any longer, I broke the silence. "Can you say something?"
Andy looked away while Wally and Todd shook their heads through the video chat, looking like they were finding it hard to process. "You just left?"
"Yes, I ran out of there! What else did you expect to do? Stay so he could send me on the next plane back home?"
"No." All three answered at once.
"Thank you!"
"Sarah?" Todd spoke.
"Yes?"
He was serious. "Good luck. You're going to need it."
"I know. Thank you."
He nodded. "Goodbye."
Their faces disappeared from the screen. I pocketed my device and turned to Andy. "I didn't ask. How exactly did you persuade your cousin to give you the tickets?"
She smiled. "There's this girl who comes in every day in the bakery I work in to get treats for her grandmother. Anika's been crushing on her for a month now and though they go to the same school Anika's too shy to talk to her, which is saying something because Anika's normally too bold for comfort."
"So ..."
"I did one or two things and now they're ... Well at least they're talking, that's a start."
I laughed. "What time does the concert start?"
"In about an hour."
I blinked. "Then why the bloody hell are we here now?"
She stared at me like I was dumb. "You want to see Isaac don't you? Well since we're early, we can be at the front where there's a better chance that he'll see you in the crowd."
We weren't alone. Some other people were milling around, no doubt waiting for the doors to be opened. I frowned, my eyes landing on a semi familiar mop of blond-brown hair.
"Isn't that Arnold?"
She turned to see, a little too eagerly. "Where? I see him. Arnold!"
He came over to us, flabbergasting me with the way he and Andy fell into each other's arms like they were long lost lovers. I greeted him with a smile when he acknowledged me, taking my cue to leave them alone.
After six successful rounds of Candy Crush, two huge men finally threw the doors open. People scrambled to get to the front, so did I. Andy and Arnold were already there. We were among the first twenty to get in. The first thing I noted was there were a few chairs at the sides for people who wished to sit and but the middle was one big empty space.
Andy was grinning. "I'm going to enjoy myself tonight."
"Me too." Arnold said, reaching to squeeze her hand. "Me too."
Barf.
People kept trooping in after us and before long the whole arena was full, everyone buzzing from excitement and anticipation.
Finally, someone came onto the stage.
"People of Sydney, how are you going?"
Thank God I'd brought the earplugs I'd been given on the plane. The reply was as deafening as expected.
"Sydney are you ready?"
Screams.
"I said, are you ready?"
Louder excited screams.
The man exited the stage, a man in a mask immediately taking his place.
The man waited patiently for all the screams and chatters to die down until there was pin drop silence, then he slowly, tortuously, took the mask off.
Luke fucking Hemmings.
The. Crowd. Went. Nuts.
