I call Marie first, no answer. Next I call Sacha, no answer. Lastly I call Ted, no answer. Are they busy or is there bad signal ?
I glance back at the party then back at my phone. I hear my mother shout "Could you start collecting some of the rubbish, dear?" "Sure!" I reply
I grab some rubbish off the floor and stuff it into a bag, look back at the house to see what looked like old man in a ankle-length black laced cloak with a hood concealing its eyes.
I could feel its minacious scowl, I watched as it exhaled ice and inhaled the warm summer air which failed to melt its icy soul.
It outstretched it's skeletal arm and and pointed at me. It wants ME.
It bounced its shoulders laughing shrewdly, I was petrified.
If you were me, would you react similarly or would you shrug it off?
Thankfully, Marie called me back.
"Hiya" she giggled
"...umm Hi" I hesitated
"You ok? You sound scared. You been watching The Nun again" she mocked "No" I broke down in tears I had to tell her everything, the whistling, the reflection, Liz and the Cloaked Man standing on my porch. Especially the Cloaked Man. Between the whimpers, the sniffling and the despairing tears rolling down my cheek Marie was silent throughout, she listened and took it all seriously I couldn't tell wether she was naïve or a good friend, either way I was glad she was there for me.
Finally, she insisted that she invite Ted and Sacha over to mine next weekend, she has a fun surprise she said, "Come on tell me" I begged "A magician never reveals their secrets" we laughed.
