Chapter 15: Don't. Hurt. Nini.

Chloe: DID YOU GUYS KISS?!
Ricky: I do not have to tell you that Chloe *laughs*
Chloe: But I wanna know!
Ricky: why?
Chloe: Because... I just do *laughs*
Ricky: then... yes
Chloe: Yay!
Ricky: *Rolls eyes and laughs*
Chloe: Ricky, can you put me to bed?
Ricky: yeah let's head upstairs
Chloe: *we walk up stairs* Does Nini make you happy?
Ricky: yes, she does * smiles*
Chloe: Good, do you make her happy?
Ricky: I think so. Since when did you become so wise in this area of discussion
Chloe: I don't know, I like to think I'm very wise though
Ricky: I think so too *I sit on your bed*
Chloe: *yawns* I'm tired Ricky
Ricky: then it's time to fall asleep *I tuck you in*
Chloe: I think you're right. Goodnight Ricky
Ricky: I kiss your forehead* goodnight Chloe
Chloe: *falls asleep*

Ricky: *I go back to my room and work on my homework doing it just a bit better then normal*

Finnick: Is this Ricky Bowen? Did I get the right Instagram?
Ricky: *I check my Instagram DM's* *texts* yeah, is this Finnick?
Finnick: Yep. Hey, I'm sorry for calling you out I guess today. I really do mean it when I say I'm protective of Nini. She's the light of my life and I would do anything for my little sister. I know you said you are gonna change and that you wanna let out your secret, but you're just not ready yet and I respect that. But I know what you have to do when you've got your "friends" are around and I don't think you realize how taxing that's gonna be on Nini's emotions. I know that she says it's okay, but I know her and I know it's gonna really start hurting het at one point. I'm just looking out for her.
Ricky: 1st off, it's totally okay because I understand. Like I said, if it was my sister, I'd do anything just to make sure she's being cared for. 2nd, I've just been through a lot and it's really hard for me to open myself up to anyone. Besides Nini, only my family and one of my friends who goes to another school knows the real me. I have 0 intentions of hurting Nini. She understands why I act the way I do at school. I do appreciate you looking out for a Nini, but don't worry, I won't hurt her.
Finnick: Thanks for understanding Ricky. I know you care for Nini and I think you're a great person for Nini to have as a boyfriend. Nini can make herself look happy and convince you that she's okay, but you really need to make sure that you always understand how she's feeling, especially after you may have to say things about her you don't mean. She's a very sensitive girl and sometimes she needs your attention and reassurance that you don't mean it. Just please be careful with what you say about her even if you don't mean it.
Ricky: I always ask. It's only been the one time we saw this one "friend" of mine and I kept asking her if she was okay. At first she was saying she was hurt, but I kept reassuring I didn't mean anything I was saying and she came around
Finnick: I know, she told me. But Ricky, I want you to tell me how many more times you think you'll run into one of them? Or that one of your friends will question why you were texting her? I mean, how are you going to continue to say these things about Nini?
Ricky: I won't let it come to that. We only have one class together at school and the rest of the day I really don't see her. When I have to be my fake self at school, she won't be around. And she knows I have to
Finnick: Just don't let your fake self be more important than Nini
Ricky: I already told you it's not
Finnick: I'll believe it when it happens
Ricky: woah man, I understand you're protecting Nini, but you gotta trust me a little
Finnick: I never said I didn't trust you, It's fake you I don't trust
Ricky: fake me is part of me. I don't like it, but it's there. You don't know what I've been through
Finnick: You're right, I don't. But who's to say I haven't been through something similar? You know, I was a smart kid too. I was bullied a lot as a kid and I mean a lot. I was never in the hospital for it, but I was in therapy because of it. I went home crying everyday because of the things people said about me. I understand your pain, but to turn into the people that hurt you? To turn around and hurt people that are just like you, isn't something that I would say is a way to "cope" with your past.
Ricky: it's not my way of "coping with it" its my way of getting rid of it. And FYI I did end up in the hospital because of it. And don't accuse me of being the bully that bullied me. You don't know me all that well. You don't know how "bad" I am at school
Finnick: Well I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure that a little more a week ago, you had my little sister crying because you told her that she was hated for who she was. That she doesn't have any friends because of what she's passionate about. That she's annoying and acts like a brat. Now, I don't care if that was "fake you" but for the people that don't know the "real you" are gonna get seriously hurt by that. Isn't that exactly what happened to you when you were younger? You were made fun of and hurt because of who you are? That's what "fake you" is doing now to people who were in the exact same position as you. That's not getting rid of your past, it's giving your past to others
Ricky: People like me better like this. They like when I make a dumb joke, but that's not the point. You texted me to what? Make fun of who I am at school? I thought you were just going to make sure I'm not going to hurt her because like I said, I'm not.
Finnick: I texted you to see what kind of person you are. I don't want my sister with someone who thinks that bullying is a good way to get rid of their past and because some other dumb high school students like you better that way. Do these peers mean more to you then Nini? Because that's what it looks like to me.
Ricky: Nini is the best thing that's ever happened to me. Maybe she's what leads me to getting rid of this "fake Ricky" but I can't just yet. But Nini can decide for herself the kind of boyfriend she wants. I get your protecting her, but she's a big girl now and she can make her own decisions... if she wants to date me, flaws and all, that's her decision... not yours.
Finnick: Why do you keep avoiding the questions I ask? You just skip right past them and then flip the whole conversation so that you get the answer you want.
Ricky: Do my peers mean more to me then Nini, no. Am I working toward becoming a better person, yes. I'm not avoiding your questions, your ignoring my reply's. You want to see me as a bad person and I don't know why.
Finnick: Then stop hiding Nini. If she means more than a fu*king social status and the liking from your peers, then stop hiding her. Stop making fun of her when your "friends" do. Don't avoid her in the halls. You don't need to scream from the roof top that you're smart or whatever, but stop leaving my sister in the dark
Ricky: dude we've been dating 2 days. why can't you just give me time? Nini is giving me time and thats one of the reasons why I really like and care for her.
Finnick: Because Nini is fragile and not someone I want broken in the next month because you can't just tell people that you're dating her. And why does it matter so much that people don't know? Are they gonna make fun of you because your girlfriend isn't some dumb girl toy?
Ricky: absolutely not. I don't want my "friends" to make fun of Nini for dating me. I gotta go... I promised Nini I'd get my grades up a little so that's what I'm working on. Thanks for looking out for Nini but I'll take it from here
Finnick: Just, don't do something you'll regret. And don't put you social status first. Don't. hurt. Nini.
Ricky: You know it would probably hurt Nini if you told her you texted me about all this. Nini's on my side. She's giving me time. Don't push me. Have a good night Finnick *I turn off my phone*

Finnick: *I swear if he breaks Nini's heart...*

This was the most stressful thing I've ever had to roleplay. Especially me being Ricky, cause I know what I'm saying is so wrong but I have to take his side since I'm literally his brain haha.
