Chapter 16: Baking Date

**Time Skip* About a month passes. It's Monday. They still avoid each other in the halls, but are a happy couple everyday after school. Nini and Ricky are going to Nini's house for another "session" and are in the car.*
Ricky: guess who got a 71 on their physics test?!
Nini: Ricky! I'm so proud! *laughs*
Ricky: *laughs* Mr Mazzara asked if I cheated
Nini: Really? You just gotta tell him you have a really good tutor
Ricky: I said "Nini's been helping a lot" you're welcome

Ricky: well I got this *I wash my hands and start making little cookie dough balls*
Nini: So he's a geek and a baker!? I mean, I think I've won the lottery *laughs*
Ricky: oh I don't bake but when it comes to pre-made dough, I got you... can you grab a pan?

Ricky: *I start putting the cookie dough balls on the pan*
Nini: Do you ever bake with Chloe?
Ricky: yeah but she does most the work. I'm really only there to make sure she didn't burn herself or something *laughs*
Nini: *laughs* Yeah, I usually do most of the baking while Finnick just keeps me company
Ricky: yeah the brothers are really only there to supervise... *mumbles* and sometimes a little too much

Ricky: sorry, nothing. Speaking of, have you talked to Finnick recently?
Nini: Not really, he's just been really busy with school lately. But we text all the time
Ricky: you don't have to answer this. But do I come up in conversation a lot?

Then he was saying that if I'm gonna be with you I need to change... like now. I kept trying to say I needed time, but he kept going on about how I'm only hurting you. I told him that you were in fact giving me time and I was gonna work on sharing my secret. And I have been working in it. I don't see Ej after school ever anymore, I'm getting a bit better grades, and I spend every spare minute with you. I don't know it just... he was making me feel like such an awful person but like I'm so new at this and- I don't know Nini-
Nini: Ricky, you're doing just fine. I'm not mad at you or anything, Finnick's the one I'm mad at. What makes him think he has the right to talk to you like that?! I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. Next time, just tell me okay? God, I'm so mad at him. He thinks I'm just some little girl that can't take care of herself.
Ricky: No, Nini...please don't be mad at him... I've really been trying to think about everything he was saying but- I'm just not ready yet and I don't know if I'll ever live up to what he wants from me for you.

Ricky: *I shake my head and point to my lips*

Ricky: *I open my eyes wide*
