Y/n POV
When we returned to the house, all eyes were on us.
"What?" I spat at them, more rudely than I had intended, and sat down on the couch.
"You good now?" Pony asked me, "yeah" I said shortly, avoiding eye contact with anyone.
"Wow, who knew old Two-bit could actually be a help to someone?" Steve started to joke and I rolled my eyes.
"Never said he was" I responded and Two-bit looked at me with an annoyed expression.

I knew he wasn't really annoyed, but everyone else believed it.

"Ooo Two just got rejected!" Steve continued to make fun of us, "oh ok like you're any better" Two said starting to argue with him. They started rough housing and I was tired, physically and mentally of their bullshit, so I got up and went to my room and went to sleep.

The next thing I knew, someone had jumped on top of me. Out of instinct I punched them directly in the face, and they yelled "ow!".

I could tell by the voice that it was Two-bit.

"Get off of me you dumbass" I groaned, pushing him off of my bed. It was already the next morning.

I heard laughing and looked up to see Steve almost in tears.
"What did you do?" I said to him rubbing my eyes, and he explained through laughter "I bet him a dollar to jump on you and wake you up, and let me tell you, best show I've ever seen!" And he started to crack up again.

I saw Two-bit sprawled on the floor, messing with his jaw that I punched.
"Sorry Two, you caught me off guard" I apologized to him, although I'm not sure why because it was his own fault for jumping on me.
"It's ok, I should've known you'd do that anyway" he said with a chuckle and got up.
"Well I'm going to get ready now, so y'all can leave after you disturbed me from my sleep, which was going great by the way" I said pushing Steve out and Two walking out on his own.

I changed into my work clothes and went to see the rest of gang who were in the living room. I had to eat breakfast quickly because I had to get to work, and I started pretty early today. I grabbed some toast Darry was making and ate it, asking him "are you gonna drive me today?".
"Yeah" Darry responded and then yelled "Soda let's go! I'm leaving in a few!".

Soda ran out in only his jeans and asked "have you seen my DX shirt? I can't find it" "it's in my room Soda" I told him, remembering seeing it there as I got ready earlier and wondering how it had gotten there. He rushed to go get it and Steve, Darry and I got into the truck. Once Soda got there, he drove off and dropped them off first, since they're closer.

He then dropped me off at the bar I work at and said "have a good day y/n. You get off at six right?" "Yeah" I said as I got out of the truck, not looking forward to go work my ass off for the next ten hours.

They're really pushing me with this job. It's always packed, the drunk people are a pain in the ass, and we get no breaks. Is that even legal? No, but that doesn't matter to my boss! I barely even have time to pee during the day. I groaned to myself, thinking of the misery I was about to endure, and started to get to work.

...

It was finally six and man let me tell you, was I out of that hell hole the second my shift ended. Darry was waiting outside for me, so I walked to his truck looking half dead.

I was so exhausted.

"Someone looks tired" Darry tried to joke with me as I got into the truck. I said nothing but turned and glared at him, and he took the hint that I wasn't in the mood and drive home silently.

I must have drifted off to sleep because the next thing I knew, I was being lightly shaken awake by Darry who was saying "we're home now". I groaned, but got up and went inside.
"Hey y/n" some of the guys greeted me, but I was too burned out to recognize who they were or to even care. I just walked into my room, flopped down on my bed, and fell asleep again.

Soda POV
I was in the living room talking to Steve when I heard Darry's truck pull in, but they didn't come in right away. I looked out the window and saw Darry shaking y/n awake, she must've had another long day. She walked inside and Pony, Two, Johnny, and I called "hey y/n", but she just walked by us without a word and went to her room.

I felt bad for her. I think she may need to get a different job, this one's working her too hard. I'm also a little worried about her because never talks to us anymore since our parents died. The only person she talks to is Two-bit, so we never really know what's going on with her.

I walked into the kitchen where Darry was and told him "I think that y/n should get a different job". He just looked at me and said "it's up to her to get a different job, you should talk to her not me".

Wow, seemed like he cared.

I walked to her room to go talk to her, but found her asleep on her bed. It must've been a really long day. I quietly backed out of her room and closed the door behind me so the gang wouldn't wake her.
She really needs the sleep.

Y/n POV
I woke up to what sounded like an earthquake happening outside of my room. It startled me quite a bit but then I realized where I am, my house. With seven boys.

I got up and looked at the time, it was already eight o'clock! I had been asleep for almost two hours. I walked out of my room groggily and saw what the noise was, it was dinner time. The boys had all rushed to the table waking me up.
"Hello sleepy head" Steve said to me and
everyone turned to look at me. I still wasn't in the mood, so I just said "child" and he glared at me but kept eating. I got my own food and sat down to eat.

"Hey y/n" Soda started to say to me, "hm?" I answered "I think you should get a different job".

I mean, I knew he wasn't wrong. But it payed pretty well and it was helping to support us.

"I'm ok" I said, clearly wanting to avoid the conversation.
"Are you sure? You are always really tired when you come home, and I think you should get a new job that isn't working you so hard" he kept telling me, "we could get you a job at the DX" Steve pitched in.
"Guys I said I'm ok, so I'm ok" I said trying to reassure them, feeling a bit annoyed by their persistence.

"I think they're right" Darry finally said.
I stared at him.

"What do you not get by I'm fine? Just back off!" I finally snapped at them, getting up and walking out of the house.

I went to Buck's. I needed a drink.
They stress me out, and this is how I cope.
I know it's not healthy, but it works for me for a while.

"Ah here she is again for the fourth time this week" Buck said when I sat down at the bar
"Just get me a beer" I snapped at him and he turned away and grabbed one, then handing me it. I paid for it and walked out.

When I'm angry and need to calm down, I have a tendency to steal things. And lucky for me, there was a little grocery store a block away. They definitely had some cigarettes there.

I started my walk down the road to the store.
