Tum Hi Ho

Chapter 6

Paridhi was relieved to find that the bathroom was actually midway between the bedroom and the living room of Darshan’s room. That way she won’t have to disturb Darshan’s sleep, early in the morning.
She quickly changed into comfortable clothes and settled on the couch with a shawl and began checking her messages and mails. She was bit disappointed to find that Nikhil had read her messages, but hadn’t replied or called back.
She thought about calling him, but decided against it as she saw that it was nearly 2 AM. She plugged her phone to charger and was about to lie down on the couch when Darshan spotted her.
“Hey, why are you sleeping here? Go sleep on the bed.” Paridhi was shocked for a moment. She stared at him open-mouthed. What was he saying? Seeing her shocked face, Darshan realized how it must have sounded.
“Wait, I meant to say that you go and sleep on the bed, I will sleep on the couch.” Paridhi looked at him from top to bottom and then scanned the couch and then again looked at Darshan from head to toe. Confused, Darshan stared at her.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” He asked and Paridhi chuckled. “Darshan, apka size dekho aur ye couch ka size dekho. You won’t even fit here, how will you sleep comfortably?” She asked and Darshan shook his head.
“I’ll manage. You go and sleep on the bed.” But Paridhi didn’t budge. “Darshan you are 6 feet tall. I am 5.2. Also I am like, half of your weight. AND you need to be well rested tomorrow because you have to perform. Go sleep now. And please don’t argue, I am tired. Let’s just sleep.”
Saying that, she laid down on the couch and pulled the shawl over her body, not even giving Darshan a chance to speak. Darshan stared at her for a few moments, then resigned, went to sleep on the bed.
Next morning he was woken up by sweet tinkling sounds coming from somewhere near him. He blinked a couple of times, and then looked at the time. It was 7.48 AM, almost time for him to wake up.
He stood up, stretched and walked sleepily towards the bathroom. He opened the door and was about to step inside when the sight in front of his shocked him and jolted him awake.
Paridhi was standing in front of the mirror, combing her hair. She was wearing a simple but elegant ethnic dress and she looked breathtaking in it. It was the first time he was seeing her with her hair loose and her simple beauty simply blew his mind. She turned around as she noticed him standing in the doorway.
“Hey good morning. I was going to wake you up in a few minutes.” Darshan noticed that the sweet tinkling sound that had woken him up was coming from her as she moved. He smiled at her.
“Good morning. Acchi dikh rahi ho.” He complimented her and Paridhi blushed. She gave him a shy smile and he was about to say something else when suddenly the smile vanished from her face. Her expressions turned to sadness and something else that Darshan couldn’t understand. She looked at her feet, trying to avoid looking at Darshan and stuttered.
“I…err… I will go now. Sorry…for hogging the bathroom. Err…” She looked like she wanted to say something more, but decided against it and rushed past Darshan, making the tinkling sound that Darshan found oddly pleasing.
After he was finished with his shower, he came out of the washroom to find his suit empty. Darshan sat on the bed after getting dressed, trying to pass the time and found himself thinking about Paridhi.
She was like a mystery to him. He could not understand her. One moment she was anxious because she was in company of males and next moment she was a confident celebrity manager.
One moment she was a shy, timid girl and next moment she was confident and independent working woman. One moment she was happy, laughing at his jokes and next, she was sad. There were so many shades to her personality that Darshan was confused.
But before he could think about it more, someone knocked his door and he went to see who it was.
