Emelia

Her boots slammed against the concrete floor as she pounded her way through the tunnels. Ethiopia had been under attack from vampires for four days, and all her attempts at contacting the division in east Africa were failing. They had heard static, telling them that people were hearing their calls, but no voice was heard back and as of now everyone stood at a standstill. James Idenhall, the leader of the British division had been calling her all night, trying to convince her to bring their teams to Ethiopia to fight side by side with the humans there. Emelia wasn't having that, though. She had been a Blade member since the age of twelve and she knew better than to rush into battle without knowing any stats or information on the war.

She came to a stop in front of the control room and burst through the door. Everyone inside froze and looked at her before nodding respectfully and returning to their work. It was silent besides the sound of fingertips on keyboards and static. Too much static.

"Any news yet, Regn?" Emelia questioned, walking over to her communications officer. Regn Down had been working with Emelia for years and she knew all the ins and outs of every electrical piece of equipment there was.

"Not since last night, Lia," She looked exhausted and frustrated as she answered her superior, but she was set on working until they got a grasp on the situation in Ethiopia. Emelia could tell Regn needed rest; her green eyes were duller than they should have been and her red hair that was once swept into a tight bun was now loose and frizzy.

"This is fucking ridiculous," Emelia grumbled, grabbing a metal chair and scraping it across the floor. She straddled the seat and pressed her index finger into her temple letting out a heavy breath. She had had a migraine for days and the incessant pounding was worse than it had ever been before.

"Tell me about it. Saudia Arabia is talking about moving south to get a better connection," Regn informed her. Emelia was shocked at this seeing as no one in any of the Blade headquarters around the world knew where the battle in Ethiopia started and ended. Moving closer to the war could mean walking right into open fire, "Are you alright, Lia?" Regn asked.

"Yeah. I'm a bit tired but the adrenaline shots have helped immensely," Emelia admitted. Her arm was still sore from her last injection, but it was minimal pain. If anything it kept her more awake.

Emelia's walkie-talkie produced a loud static that made her reach for the device quickly. She spoke into the receiver and no one answered her. Everyone in the room was immediately on alert and she tried again.

"State your situation," Her voice was firm into the speaker and she was somewhat relieved when a man's voice responded to her.

"We caught a wolf. He was snooping around the north-west boundary," Emelia rolled her eyes. She had made it clear that if a supernatural creature was found on Blade's property, they were to be executed in case they saw or heard anything that they shouldn't have.

"This one is different, Ma'am. He says he came from Tanzanian soil. Claims that another Blade division sent him to us to relay information," Emelia's ears perked, but she kept her excitement low. It could be a hoax, or his information could be false. She decided she had to interrogate the mutt herself.

"Throw him in the lot, I'll be there soon. Keep an eye on him," She ordered, standing up quickly and making her way out of the small room. Emelia was a fair woman - at only nineteen she was the head of the French division in Blade - but just because this pup gave her information didn't mean she should spare his life. The supernatural had reigned for too long; they had killed too many people. That was the whole reason Blade was formed, after all. Their goal was to slaughter as many supernatural as they could, all while under the radar. There were hundreds of Blade divisions all over the world. People could join at sixteen and fight against the ruling power - the werewolves. Recently, though, the vampires had been causing serious outbreaks for no apparent reason; which had made suspicions rise in every country.
