(Emily's POV)

It's been about a week since Cole told me the story about Desiree. He's been avoiding me, and I think he regrets telling me what happened. Maybe he didn't want to be so vulnerable with me but I'm glad he was, because now I was able to see the real Cole. It was nice seeing that he could actually care for somebody outside of his family.

The past couple of days I've just been babysitting Sophie and carrying on with my life. I don't want to pressure Cole in to talking to me, I'll wait till he's ready. Sophie and I have just been going to the park, watching movies, or just playing little games. She's actually pretty fun to be around.

Brady has been texting me nonstop, but I still haven't replied. I don't think I ever will after finding out what he did to Desiree. After hearing the story I was instantly disgusted by him.

Throughout this week I've been able to reflect on my time here. I started to think about the past encounters I've had with Cole and I'm still just confused. After he told me the story I started to wonder why he was doing the same things to me as other people were doing to Desiree. Maybe he doesn't realize it or maybe it's his way of coping, but I don't think it's the right time to ask him at the moment.

"Hello, earth to Emily! I've been repeating your name a million times!" Bella exclaimed as she sat at the foot of my bed.

It was currently Saturday and we had nothing better to do so we decided to just chill in my room. Overall living with this family feels like my second home. Since the first day Angela made it clear that I was allowed to have friends over within limitations.

"Sorry, what were you saying?"

"I asked how things were between you and Cole. You haven't talked about it."

I shrugged, "I'm not really sure. He's been ignoring me, but I feel closer to him than before."

Hearing Bella's phone ding directed my attention to her.

"OH, It's Drew. He wants to know if I can meet him for lunch. Is that okay?"

I nodded and smiled, "Yeah, I'll just be bored by myself today."

-

An hour after Bella left I was bored out of my mind. Angela took Sophie out, so it was just me and Cole in the house.

After deciding I was done hiding in my room I went down the steps and spotted Cole sitting on the couch

As I passed the couch I watched him look up at me, "Emily, what are you doing today?"

I couldn't help the way my eyes widened at his question. He hasn't talked to me since that night, so I was surprised he was even talking to me, "No I'm not doing anything. Why?"

He then got up and walked towards me, "I was wondering if you wanted to watch me fight tonight. It's in a better place than last time, so you'd be safe."

My mind wanders back on the last time I watched him fight. The fight wasn't the bad part it was everything else. I remember Cole having to go back to get the car I left there.

"And you're sure nothing will happen to me?" I asked just wanting to double check.

A look passed over his face and I wasn't able to read it before it went away, "I'm sure. I won't let anything happen to you."

"Okay, I'll go." Thinking that was the end of the conversation I turned to go to the kitchen but Cole stopped me.

"Um, I don't really know how to say this," he admitted, "But I just wanted to say I'm sorry. Uh for everything."

Everything that happen was completely shocking. I was starting to think I was dreaming. The words 'I'm sorry' coming from Cole's mouth was something I never thought I would ever hear. It honestly made me so happy.

A small grin captured my face as I processed his words, "you're sorry?" I asked still trying to make sense of everything.

He shifted on his feet and looked around uncomfortably. I could tell the situation wasn't something he was used to. Which made it even better, because it meant he was being more sincere. I knew ever since that night something between us change, and that he respected me more. I was able to get a good look at what was going on in his head and he got to see what was going on in mine as well.

"Yeah... I've been thinking about some of the things I've said, and I regret them. You aren't THAT bad." He continued, "And I really, like, appreciated you talking to me that night."

The more he went on the more in shock I was. I was just standing there processing everything he was throwing my way. I decided to ignore the 'That bad' part but everything else was perfect.

"Uh, can you say something now? This is really awkward for me."

Pulling myself out of my shocked state I smiled up at him, "Cole that really means a lot. Do you promise to not say any more hurtful things?" I asked him wondering if it was possible.

He cleared his throat, "Yeah, I'm going to try. I don't want to hurt you like they hurt Desiree."

"Cole, if you're being serious about this then I accept your apology." I said as the smile on my face got wider. This was another step in the right direction for Cole and I.

I don't know where this will take us, but I'm excited to find out. If he is serious this could mean so much. We could be friends, possibly even more.

It's too early to tell, but I had high hopes and I could tell he did too.
