(Narrator's POV)
Signal Academy: A primary academy that allows those to become Huntsmen and Huntresses, intended to protect the world of Remnant.
Four years of training are compulsory in this academy before going to a higher academy: Beacon, Heaven, Shade or Atlas. Among the students was a young woman, Krystal Shin. She has been passionate about Huntsmens and Huntresses since her childhood, and spent as much time as possible watching their exploits on TV.
She admired these people who risked their lives every moment to save thousands of others. She entered Signal so she could have a chance to become like her idols.
One evening, after school, she was called to the headmaster of the academy who absolutely wanted to speak to her. Once at the door, she knocks on the door.
"Come in, please." Call a voice from the other side of the door. Krystal opened it and went inside. The director looks up at the young woman. "Ah, Miss Shin! I was waiting for you. Take a seat and sit down." Said the director. Krystal takes a chair from the side, places it in front of the director's desk and sits on it.
"You summoned me, did I do something wrong?" She asks, worried. The director snickered."No, no! Rest assured, you have done nothing wrong! On the contrary, you have exemplary behavior!" Said the director. "But if it was only that, it would be fine." He said to her with a much more serious air, worrying the student.
"Why? What is it?" She asks, worried. The director sighed.
"Miss Shin, I must inform you that your results are not really good." Said the director of Signal to the student.
"What do you mean ?" Asked the student, worried.
"Only 11/20 on average for practical exercises. For someone who says she has a certain admiration for Huntsman and Huntresses ... it's ... very disappointing." He said to the student, who was looking at the ground. The director sticks his back to the back of his chair.
"If I understood correctly, you want to join the Beacon academy, is that it?" He asks the student."Yes, sir" she answers weakly with a movement of the head. The director stands up and puts his elbows on his desk.
"You know, Krystal, the academy of Beacon only accepts students who are destined to become great huntsmans, and to be considered as such, you need excellent results in practical exercises, which is not your case. You'll have to pull yourself together if you want to integrate Beacon." Said the director, unhappy.
"I see." She sighs.
"I know you can do it, Miss Shin. You have great potential. Don't waste it." Said the director, trying to motivate his student. "You can leave." Said the director, ending the conversation. The student leaves the principal's office and returns to her room. A letter was placed on her desk. She grabs it and read it.
At that precise moment, everything collapsed for her. The letter she received was sent by her father to announce the death of her mother, who was murdered. Reading the letter, she collapsed on her lap and started to cry all the tears in her body.
"Krystal?! What's wrong?!" Asked for a voice. A blond haired teenage girl rushed past Krystal and knelt before her.
"Yang ... My mom..." She said between two sobs before throwing herself in the arms of her friend and continuing to cry for hours and hours. The blonde wrapped her arms around her friend and started to comfort her.
