Unsteady [Isaac Lahey x OC]

Chapter 4

After the run in with the kanima, Carter realized she really hated lizards... and snakes.

Walking down the hallway of the high school, Carter saw a face she hadn't seen in school for a while, Isaac Lahey. What the hell was he doing back.

She did what any normal witch would do, she walk up to him as his blue eyes stared directly into her own.

"I'm assuming you were found innocent." She stated.

He laughed lightly, in a way that would make any girl swoon, but way too cocky for Carter's liking.

"Are you happy you get to see me everyday again?" He asked over confident in how she would respond.

"Oh ecstatic" Carter replied sarcastically.

She brushed past him, ignoring whatever else he had to say but she turned around to see Erica had now found him.

What the hell was Derek planning with his betas back in school.

"So they think it's Lydia?" Carter whisper yelled. "Lydia is many things, but not a mutant lizard thing."

Carter, Stiles and Scott walked into the chemistry classroom noticing an open spot next to Lydia. Stiles and Scott sprint towards the seat. Carter shook her head at the two. She decided to take action with the root of the problem, so she took a seat at the table next to Isaac's and Erica's.

Carter leaned over at Isaac, "Whatever you guys are planning-"

"It's just a test to see if she is the kanima." Isaac says, softer than what Carter thought his tone would be.

She glared at him then at Erica. Soon Mr. Harris announces the switch of tables. As people shifted between stations to perform the lab, Isaac sat at Carter's station. She took this opportunity to make sure he knew what they were getting themselves into.

"If you or Erica touch Lydia, I will snap all of your necks." She leaned close to him now, "All it takes is a snap of my fingers."

He smirks, "Funny, your brother said something similar, just less morbid."

He aggravated Carter. That smirk makes her want to smack it off his face. Eventually, Isaac landed at Lydia's station. They were all on the edges of their seats as Lydia lifted the crystal up towards her mouth. Carter felt helpless as she couldn't do anything in front of all these people, she was about to ingest kanima venom.

That sounded extremely unappetizing.

Lydia took a bite nonchalantly, smiling after. Each of the supernaturals, plus Stiles, all looked at her in surprise, she didn't get paralyzed.

Carter still didn't think Lydia was the kanima. She never got along with the girl, but she knew that deep down, Lydia was smart and cared about others. Maybe deep, deep down.

After school they took Lydia to Scott's house in order to protect her from Derek and his pack. Assuring her that they were going to do a group study session, she was skeptical. Carter was the last one to step inside the McCall house.

Stiles immediately locked every lock on the front door behind Carter, receiving an odd look from Lydia, "Uh there's been break ins in the neighborhood." Stiles simply puts.

Moving a chair under the knob, he stated "And a murder." Carter rolled her eyes. "Yeah it was bad." he finished. Lydia looked annoyed until Jackson asked her to go upstairs to talk. At least they will be out of the way for now. As long as they cant get to her. And Carter would make sure they won't.
