Chapter 13

Everyone was shocked. What girl?

Carter certainly was not the jealous type, plus they had never identified their relationship. She guessed. But this caused an odd pit in her stomach.

"What girl?" Derek asked sternly.

Isaac finds Carter's green eyes. He looked at her with an apologetic and relieved look.

Scott and Stiles had left after asking if Carter was coming. She told them no and they understood why not. Carter needed some answers from the previously sleeping beta.

Derek was asking Isaac about the girl. He eventually left to call Peter.

She took this as her opportunity.

"Carter" Isaac looked at the short girl.

Noticing his bare chest, Carter realized he was still only in a hospital gown. Her eyes dart away before he could notice her stare, Carter handed him a pair of pants that Derek had left for him.

"Thanks." he said sliding them on. He came up to Carter, his figure towering over hers.

"Does it still hurt?" She asked referencing the wound from the alpha. It almost felt like it wasn't real seeing him again.

"No, it's healing now." He sighed noticing her stoic demeanor.

"Carter I-" Before he could continue Carter wrapped her arms around his torso. He was shocked at her action but he immediately wrapped his arms around her, one hand on the back of Carter's head in a comforting way.

Carter looked up into his blue eyes, they were entrancing but she couldn't just give into their spell.

"One text Isaac?" Carter pulled away from his embrace. Both really wishing she hadn't.

"Derek didn't want you and Scott involved. I didn't have a choice." he responded.

Carter rolled her eyes, "We always have a choice Lahey."

Isaac felt bad for leaving Carter after he promised to stay. But he had to listen to Derek, even if that meant hurting her. All those months away from the girl had him thinking about how incredible she really is and how he just wanted her back in his arms.

Derek walked into the room they were in, an annoyed look on his face.

"Come with me to the pent house, both of you." He said with no emotion on his face.

"I'm going home." Carter told Derek crossing her arms.

"I need your help." He stated.

"I thought you wanted Scott and me out of this?" She looked towards Isaac now. He rubbed the back of his neck.

Isaac paced by the window of Derek's pent house.

Carter's gaze followed his movement as he anxiously waited.

"You know, I'm starting not to like this idea. Sounds kinda dangerous." Isaac says nervously towards Derek, "You know what? I definitely don't like this idea, and I definitely don't like him."

"It's definitely dangerous." Carter said in a bored tone.

Isaac looked towards the girl, "See? I trust Carter."

Carter looked at him, "Clearly not enough to ask for help this summer."

Isaac looked down towards his feet. He didn't know what was worse, being away from Carter or her being upset with him.
