On 4 August 2020, I posted the last chapter of The Prince of Thieves. It has been a long journey.
I first posted TPOT in late-2016 after The Yakuza Bride ended. I didn't know what I had in mind for the series then, and I soon gave up. The direction that TPOT was going in just didn't feel right.
I re-started TPOT in mid-2017. I still wasn't clear what I wanted and those chapters were unpublished again. I remember thinking about giving up writing altogether. Between the time that I unpublished the chapters and re-started it, I was going through so much uncertainty in real life, and writing a story I wasn't sure about wasn't the best idea.
Then, the worst thing happened. In mid-2019, The Yakuza Bride was stolen and placed on Amazon for sale, together with stories from other writers. The support that poured in during that time spurred me to finally get TPOT re-started again.
I started the third version of TPOT in mid-2019, and this is the version you have been reading. I have finally completed it, and I couldn't have done it without you. I am extremely glad for the kind messages I received throughout the years, and for the many readers I have met who are now friends.
I am glad for every single reader I have, and even more so for those who have been around since TYB began. I really appreciate your support and I am grateful that you have stuck around.
I hope that through Hana, I've showed that strong girls don't have to be cold badasses (no hate to them, I love them too) but they can be sweet and cheerful, and like cute things and pretty dresses. And I hope that through Leon, I've showed that even the strongest and coldest of men have their weaknesses and loves (and cheesy moments). Above all, I hope you have enjoyed MAFIYA as much as I have enjoyed bringing MAFIYA to life for you.
In Chapter 29 of The Prince of Thieves, Leon, Hana, Val, Mickey and Dom made a toast to each other. I would like to add on:
"To never giving up on yourself, and to the people who support you."
