Cassandra paced back and forth in the room. Her hands shaking and her teeth grinding. She breaks out in cold sweat when she thinks of what Varian could do to her friends — to the kingdom.

She sat down and the edge of the bed and ran her hand through her dark hair. She felt so useless. This must not go on.

She tried to think of any way to escape but it was no use. As long as Varian have her friends, she can't escape.

After all those years, she can't believe that she forgot about him. It made her feel — guilty.

She quickly shook her head.

No.

Guilt is something she should never feel about that guy. He's the reason why all of this happened. She will never forgive him if something bad happened to the princess.

The door opened and she quickly stood up, one hand on her sword and it's sharp tip pointing to him.

"What are you doing in here?" she hissed at the person in front of her.

Varian stared at her with cold eyes, making a chill ran down her spine. She's still not used to seeing him like this.

She missed that dorky smile that he always wore before. She's not going to say it out loud but...

She missed her co-lady-in-waiting.

The king's crown glinted as a ray of sunlight hit it. That crown wasn't made to be his — and yet why does he have it now?

Varian stared at the woman before him. After all these years, he still find her pretty — no — beautiful. No matter what he do, his heart still belongs to her — his attraction to the lady growing bigger as days and nights passed.

If only...

He shook his head. Before he attacked, he made the decision to lock all of his emotions out — the one that could cause a great mischief to his plan.

This shouldn't have happened. He was willing to forgive but he found out something that fuelled his anger even more. And this time, he's not backing out. He's not weak anymore and he's going to prove them wrong.

The tip of her sword was pointing at him. He eyed it with disinterest. Although deep inside, he find it amusing on how Cassandra managed to raise a sword at him even though she knows that he's the one in charge now.

Cassandra was startled when he let out a cynical laugh. She gulped and kept her stance. No. She's not going to be intimidated by him. He's just a kid — right?

"Why do you keep asking questions that you already know the answer, Cassie," he retorted. "Are you really that stupid?"

Cassandra felt like there's steam coming out of her ears in anger. She closed her eyes and heaved a deep breath. He's provocing her and she knew it. She's not going to let him win — not this time. She needs to keep her composure.

"Don't call me—" he raised a hand to stop her from her sentence.

But being the stubborn girl she is, she continued.

"— Cassie. And don't call me stupid. You're the one who's stupid here to let your anger ignite for something that happened in the past," she quipped.

"I wasn't calling you stupid. I only asked — the way you answered only proves me right," he merely stated.

"Oh, you—" she took a step, ready to punch him in anger when he asked the question that made her froze.

"Do you know where Godric's stone is?"

I added Varian's point of view for a bit and I hope it provides a good sneak peak about his past!
