We arrived back at my house about 30 minutes after leaving the party. I set up a mattress for Alice on the floor while Miles slept on my bed with me. We put on the third Scream movie, and as the scary scenes unfolded, Miles and I cuddled up together while Alice focused on the movie, completely oblivious to us.
"Hey, y/n," he whispered, his breath warm against my ear.
"Yeah?" I asked, glancing at him.
"Were you comfortable with Luke hanging around you tonight?" he asked gently.
"Um... not really," I admitted.
"I thought so," he said, brushing a strand of hair from my face.
"After what he said before we left the party, it just made me... nervous," I confessed, my fingers tracing his hand.
"I'll always be here for you," Miles said softly, pressing a gentle kiss to my nose.
"I love you," I whispered.
"I love you more," he said, pulling me closer.

Miles' POV
I was genuinely worried about y/n. That Luke guy made me furious, but I had to stay calm. I couldn't let anyone hurt her—or make her feel uncomfortable. If Luke crossed any more lines, he'd have me to answer to. Y/n was mine, and I wasn't about to let anyone forget it.

Y/n's POV
I felt a pang of worry about what could happen at school today. But one thing was clear: Luke was just noise, a distraction. Miles was the one I needed, the one I wanted—and I wasn't about to let anyone take that away.
⸻
We got ready for school and walked together—me, Miles, and Alice. My heart was pounding as we approached the gates.
"You'll be fine," Miles said, squeezing my hand reassuringly.
I nodded and gave him a small smile, feeling a little steadier with him beside me.
"Miles!!!"
Ugh. Not her. I groaned inwardly.
"Um... hi, Rebecca," Miles said, smiling awkwardly and scratching the back of his neck.
"Did you enjoy my party last night?" she asked, twirling her hair and smirking.
"Uh, yeah. It was fun," he replied, keeping his tone neutral.
"Well, that's good! I'm having another one this weekend—Saturday night. You have to come!" She handed him an invitation with a flirtatious wink and walked off.
I grabbed the invitation from Miles' hand and tore it into pieces without a second thought.
"What? Come on, y/n. It's just a party," Miles said, raising his eyebrows.
"Not happening," I said firmly, walking away, my frustration boiling under the surface.
Miles caught up to me, putting an arm around my shoulder. "Hey, hey, it's fine. I get it. Nobody's going to push you around, okay?"
I leaned into him, feeling safe despite the morning chaos. "Yeah... thanks. I just... I can't deal with her trying to flirt with you. It's ridiculous."
He smiled down at me, brushing a thumb along my hand. "Then let's just focus on us today. No distractions."
I smiled back, letting my worries fade—at least for now. Miles was here, and that was all that mattered.
