Chapter 16: Love and Home

NAHAHATI ang loob ni Eunice habang nagpapaalam sa mga estudyante niya sa Sunday School. Hati din kasi ang reaction ng mga ito.

Ang mga batang babae ay naiintindihan na kailangan niyang magbakasyon at after New Year na makakabalik para mas matagal siyang makapag-spend time kasama ang family niya sa Pilipinas. Ang mga batang lalaki naman ay nakasimangot dahil matagal siyang mawawala.

"Don't be sad, boys. I'm going to return soon." She patted the heads of Pax, Evander, Levi, and Clement.

"Yes, teacher Eunice will!" ani Joie. "Hindi naman forever mawawala si Teacher."

"Oo nga," segunda pa ng ibang batang babae. "Teacher Eunice promised that she'll return. Diba, teacher?"

"Oo naman," nakangiting sagot niya. "Smile now, boys. Anong gusto niyong pasalubong?"

Biglang sumilay ang ngiti sa mga labi ng mga ito at nagsibilinan ng iba't ibang laruan.

Natawa na lang siya at inilista ang gustong pasalubong ng mga ito.

"Is Jesus still with us even if we have a different teacher?" tanong ni Pax, nakalabi.

"Of course!" she enthusiastically said. "The Holy Spirit is with you wherever you go, kids. Jesus is living within your hearts. Kahit mag-iba iba pa kayo palagi ng Sunday School teacher."

The nine children innocently nodded. Kitang kita sa mga mata nito ang paniniwala. No doubts. Simple belief but it goes a long way for them.

"Magpe-pray kami palagi, Teacher Eunice!" Ellis cheerfully said. "We will also pray for you. So, you will always be happy and safe wherever you go, Teacher!"

"Hindi kami magstop mag-pray until you come back again, Teacher!" The other sweetly said.

"Babalik ka, Teacher, ha? You'll teach us pa how to read the Bible!"

"Magko-color pa tayo!"

"And games!" the boys said.

She opened her arms. "I'll come back for you," pangako niya sa mga ito. "Pero habang wala ako, makikinig kayo sa bago niyong teacher, ah? Listen and obey. Huwag makulit!"

"Yes, teacher!!!"

Isa-isang yumakap ang mga babae sa kanya. Ang apat na lalaki ay sabay-sabay. Nagsiksikan sa loob ng mga braso niya. Natawa na lang si Eunice.

"Babalik si Teacher Eunice!"

"In Jesus' name! Amen!" sabay-sabay na sigaw pa ng mga ito. Nakataas pa ang mga kamay!

Eunice hopes that her students will remain this pure and believing. Mas naintindihan niya na tuloy nang sinabi ni Jesus na mas malapit dito ang mga bata at mas mabilis makapasok ng langit. Because children would easily believe anything.

They are kin observers and would endlessly ask, but they will continue to believe when reassured. There's this faithful uncorrupted heart within them. Lagi pang excited kapag tinuturuan.

This is what a childlike faith looks like. Eunice is consistently praying to have a faith in God like a child, again.

Binigyan niya ng tig-isang winter coat ang mga ito. Siya ang nagdesign at nagtahi ng mga iyon bilang Christmas gift sa mga bata.

The children wore the coats excitedly. Terrence took photos of them while wearing the coats.

Nag-abot din si Eunice ng advance Christmas gift sa mga kasamahan niyang volunteers sa Sunday School at sa Creatives Ministry. Lastly, she gave Tita Gena a bag that Eunice designed and crafted herself.
