Chapter 22: My Love Trusts in You

"DO YOU still want me to go back to Paris?"

Sandaling nagtaka si Terrence sa tanong ng asawa. More like, he's wondering where that question came from.

"Honest answer," pahabol pa nito.

"You know my answer," aniya. "Kung ako lang, ayoko, hindi ba? But it's the Lord's plan and not mine."

Kung may growth si Eunice sa pagkatao nito, marapat lang na mayroon din siya. As much as he despised long-distance relationships before, Terrence learned to appreciate the lesson.

Mas tumaas ang self-control niya sa katawan. Hindi siya mabilis nadadala ng mga hawak o haplos (basta't kay Eunice lang galing). He learned a higher tolerance in keeping himself pure.

At higit sa lahat, natutunan ni Terrence na sa puso niya, hindi puwedeng si Eunice ang numero uno. It should always be God.

Parang sa tingin niya nga, sinadyang ilayo sa kanya si Eunice para matutunan ni Terrence na hindi ang asawa niya ang tunay na makakapagligaya sa kanya. He's too devoted, he must admit. Muntik niya na yatang sambahin si Eunice.

It must always be God as the center of his worship. His true joy depends on Him alone.

His wife should be a bonus—a partner in worship, not the object of his worship. Iyon ang napagtanto ni Terrence sa mga nakalipas na quiet times niya.

Being far away from Eunice made him seek God's kingdom first and all His righteousness.

Tinignan siya ni Eunice ng mataman.

"What?" nagtatakang tanong niya rito.

Umiling lang ito at nagtali ng ribbon sa sariling buhok. "Okay. I am your gift."

Ah, ito ang gusto niya. See? There is blessing in obedience!

Niyakap niya ito at hinalikan sa gilid ng leeg. Eunice chuckled and embraced him. "Magpaalam na tayo sa kanila," bulong nito.

And so, they went home and made love. Until the Christmas morning!

Eunice was sweet and aggressive all at the same time. At hindi naman siya umaangal.

While his wife was sleeping inside his arms, Terrence watched her contently.

Isang linggo na lang at babalik na ulit ito ng Paris. Hinaplos-haplos niya ang buhok nito. Ito kaya, gusto pang bumalik ng Paris?

Hindi pa pala nila napag-uusapan ang tungkol sa gagawin nito kay Soleil. Ayaw naman tanungin ni Terrence dahil nangako si Eunice na pag-uusapan nila iyon pagkatapos ng bagong taon, bago ito bumalik ng Paris.

Kaya hinahayaan niya lang. Terrence trusts Eunice. Napakalaki na ng pinagbago nito kaya't naniniwala siya sa mga magiging desisyon nito.

Most of the times, he just wanted to keep her at arm's length and protect her. But he can't disregard the fact how strong Eunice now as a woman of God.

Sana lang din... "I hope you can finally let go of our little angel, baby..." bulong niya. "Once that happened, it's finally the time you'll come home to me."

He felt a little pinch inside his chest. Huminga siya nang malalim. Pinikit niya ang mga mata at mas hinapit ng yakap si Eunice.

He'll patiently wait for her.

PAGKAGISING ni Terrence ay wala na si Eunice sa tabi niya. He turned and saw her at the study table, writing on her journal.
