'Never to play with Georgy Strings',
Is what my uncle and father sings,
'You could just play with other things,
So never do play with Georgy Strings'.
And "My turn, my turn' the children say,
'It will be me plays with Georgy Strings,
'My turn my turn' they beg thru the day
'For him's a fine puppet, fashioned for kings'
'Never to play with Georgy Strings',
That's what my father and uncle sings,
'You could just play with nicer things,
So never you play with Georgy Strings'
'My turn, my turn' the children laugh,
'I want to dance well with Georgy Strings'
'My turn, my turn' along the garden path
'For he's a fine puppet amongst puppet kings'
'Never to play with Georgy Strings',
Is what them older children sings,
Better to play with different things,
Than ever to play with Georgy Strings.
'My turn, my turn' the children yell
'He moves on his own, does Georgy Strings!'
'My turn, my turn. . .'
but who can tell
Just who said it that time? Of all odd things.
Never to play with Georgy Strings,
That is what elders and grannies sings,
For there are but few more perilous things,
Than choosing to play with Georgy Strings.
'My turn, my turn, my turn, my turn,
I can be flesh and you can have strings'
Was it Georgy speaking so stern?
'It's no fun to have strings' he sings.
Never to play with Georgy Strings,
That is what all the children sings,
There's nothing much worse in all bad things,
Than having your last name transfigured to 'Strings'
Never to play with Timmy Strings,
that is what all the children sings,
despite the joy the puppet brings,
don't ever you play with poor timmy strings
