Jordan's pov
"It's nice isn't it?" I heard behind me. "Yeah, it really is." Colby sat down near me, his back flushed against the wall. "Did you get any sleep after i did?" He asked, i felt his eyes on me, so i tore mine away from the sky, and lifted my legs out from between the bars. "No, not really." I sighed setting the cup down. "I wouldn't have gone to sleep either, but i did end up sleeping a good few hours." I smiled, nodding my head. "That's good, you don't get much sleep." He raised his eyebrows at me, but stayed quiet. "Yeah i can't argue with that." I smile broke out on both our faces, he stood up, helping me stand with him. "Also did you clean up? It's crazy spotless here." He said, sitting on the couch. "Yes i did, took a whole two hours." I rolled my eyes as he laughed, patting the spot next to him. I laid my head on his legs, tracing small shapes into his knee. "You helped me sleep didn't you?" He asked. I didn't have to turn around to see the smile on his face. "Yeah i did." I smiled, a small blush covering my face. He laughed, his body vibrating under me. "Thank you." Nodding, i sit up, facing the door to the spring of energy. "Who is it?" He asked turning to me. "Just Kat, how is one so happy this early in the morning?" I rubbed my temples from the overwhelming amount of emotion that this friend group seemed to have. Or was that just from normal people? "She can be a morning bird." He chuckled walking to the door. "Aren't all birds morning people? Or animals?" He turned back and shrugged, chuckling. "Maybe except penguins?" "Probably if penguins can sleep for even the whole day if they feel like it." He stopped in his tracks, walking back to me quickly. "You read too many books." He whispered, a gasp leaving my mouth. "You're on social media too much." He gasped at me, holding his heart playfully. "Touché." I waited for him to get close enough to the door just for me to open it for him, a giggle leaving my breath. "You're joking right?" Colby said giving me playful glares. Sam and Kat walked in, food in hand. "We brought pancakes!" Kat squealed. "And bacon!" Sam yelled right after her, closing the door behind him. "Yay!" I cheered, jumping from my spot. "Woah Colby your apartment is so clean." Kat commented as she looked around shockingly. "Yeah man what happened?" Sam added looking between us two. "Thank Jordan for that one." He chuckled as we walked to the kitchen. "Wow, what a changed man she's made you." Kat said as we served ourselves. "You act like i chose to live here." I heard Sam laugh out, a chuckle leaving Kat and i. Leaving the kitchen, i felt someone bum down, and i obviously already knew who it was. So i sat next to Colby, offering him half my bacon that he denied. When Kat and Sam got into their own conversation i leaned over to Colby, whispering to him. "I was joking." His eyes lightened up a little before he held his pinky out, i didn't hesitate to interlock mine with his. I wasn't one to break a promise. "You guys think Jakes awake?" Kat asked. I closed my eyes, scanning the hallways for any strong energy's until i found Jakes steady one. No sign of hyperactivity or overwhelming emotions. "He's asleep still." Sam and Colby groaned, annoyed by their sleepy friend. "I'm surprised Colbys up before Jake." Kat said as we threw our plates out. "I probably wouldn't have fallen asleep in the first place if it wasn't for Jordan." Colby commented as we walked out of his apartment. I caught Sams wide eyes and Kat wiggling her eyebrows at me that made me roll my own eyes. "I mean i am pretty exhausting." We laughed as we reached Jakes apartment, Sam reaching for the door nob but it being locked. "That's weird Jake never locks his apartment." Colby said as he jiggled the nob a few more times. "Taras probably here then." I said, unlocking the door for us. I opened it, preparing my eyes to be scarred for eternity. We all sighed in relief when we walked into an empty room. "We'll go wake them up." Sam sighed as him and Kat walked into Jakes room quietly. I walk over to open his fridge, taking out his orange juice and popping the cap open. "I probably wouldn't do that if i were you." Colby said walking into the kitchen. "Why?" "Because Jake doesn't use cups." He chuckled pulling his phone out. "Lucky for him neither do i." I drank straight from the jug, watching Colby gag on the side continuously. "What?" I asked putting the rest of it away with a smile. "That's disgusting." I laughed at his behavior, wiping my mouth. "You basically just kissed Jake." He said shaking his head. "You just had to make it weird." I said before his phone started ringing suddenly. "Oh okay, yeah we're waking Jake up right now just swing by." He out his phone down, looking up at me uneasy. "It was Sirena, she's bringing her car over so we could all just ride with her." I didn't personally know Sirena, i never did have a chance to get to know her. But the uneasy feeling of her kissing my now ex boyfriend didn't give me a good feeling about her. Although i didn't really get to judge because Colby said we would talk about it, i still didn't trust her. But i nodded, walking towards the door with an expressionless face. "Are you going to get ready now or?" I trailed off, leaving the door open as his face dropped by my reaction. He shouted he was going to get ready to Sam, who shouted back. "Okay meet me at my place in 20!" We walked down the hall in silence, and i found myself tugging on the loose ends of my cast. "Why am i even going if i'm not going to be doing anything?" I asked as he opened his apartment door. "Because you're part of the team, we don't just leave people out." He said as we walked to his room. I thought about Aaron, and how he just left the group for his other friends. I guess the need to be normal got to him, because i'm not sure if his friends have any gifts of their own. "Are you sure you don't leave people out? Or is it because you guys don't trust me?" He stopped suddenly, turning around quickly to face me. "What? Of course we trust you Jordan we care about you. The people that decided to leave in the past stays in the past. And we don't let it get to who we are today." I nodded at his words, and went to go turn back to the couch when he caught my wrist, stopping me. I clenched my teeth slightly, before turning back to him. "Think about that, okay?" His eyes where sincere, like he was trying to understand what i was feeling. And he knew i didn't have to think too much about it to understand how he felt. I nodded, but glanced down at my arm. "Hand." His eyes widened slightly before releasing me. Colby didn't feel scared though, just regret what he did. "Sorry." I smiled weakly at him before walking back to the living room and laying down as i waited for Colby to finish getting ready. I ended up fidgeting with the old gadgets i had, like my magnets and such, taking them apart and rearranging them to fit some other place. I figured with my powers back i wouldn't really be needing them, but what's the harm in giving them to the team? Colby walked out of his room later, but i was too focused to pay attention. "What are you doing?" He whispered by my side. "Experimenting." I whispered back before locking the two pieces together. "Can i be your guinea pig?" He asked sitting next to me. I smiled, nodding my head before handing him the small triangular magnet. "Ready?" I asked, getting the button on my right wrist control set up. He nodded, closing his eyes tightly. I turned it on quickly, waiting for it to work. It took a second, him just cracking open his eye before it kicked in. When the magnet turns on, it searches for the heaviest, and strongest metal there is, in this case his was outside. He jolted slightly from the tase it gave off, leaving him weak as he flew out the window to the balcony. I gasped, crossing my hands over my hands over my chest making me latch onto him. I held my breath, keeping my grip tightened as i leaned my head down to turn the button off. The force keeping i'm from resisting fell, as i sigh in relief, dropping my hands by instinct i re-catch his limp body just an inch before he hit the floor. I carefully, pulled him through the broken window, tossing the burnt metal across the room. As i lay him down i examine any injuries, he only had slight redness from the tap, but something felt off. Way off.
