beep.. beep.. beep beep beep beep

You woke up with a racing heart, shooting up into a sitting position was your first reaction. And not a good one at that. Your body ached immensly, and the lights were extremely bright. Hurting your head even more.

What had happened? How had you ended up here? "Miss? I need you to lay down." You heard a nurse to your right say. She was standing in the hallway and must have been passing by when she saw you sit up.

You nodded, confused and slightly anxious. "Right." You said, feeling how dry your throat was. The nurse entered the room and offered you a glass of water. "Thank you." You said before taking it and drinking out of it. She looked at you with curiosity and fear. But why?

You handed it back to her and she quickly took it. "I'll have the doctor come in and see you." She said before leaving and shutting the door behind her. You shuffled in the hospital bed slightly to get comfortable, your body sent sharp shooting pains when you moved but at least you were more comfortable now.

While you'd moved, you felt something metallic and cold on your ankle. You moved the white blanket to see you'd been cuffed to the bed. You furrowed your eyebrows, you didn't know they did that to patients.

You heard the doorknob wiggle and you put the blanket back just as the door opened. One female- the doctor, and a male in a blue striped shirt with brown pants entered.

"Good afternoon." The doctor said, she sat on a nearby stool while the man sat on a chair in the corner of the room. "I'm doctor Lowe, I'll be the doctor watching over you while you stay here." She said and you looked at her while she spoke, but seeing the man in the corner staring intently at you.

"Now can you tell me your name?" She asked and you nodded. "Y/N Y/L." You said and she nodded, picking up a clipboard and paper with a pen. She checked something off on the paper. "And do you know what day it is?" She asked and you looked down at your hands for a moment, also questioning the date. "Um, June 12th of 2019?" You guessed, that was the last known date before you seemingly got into an accident.

"Alright. Well, you've sustained major physical injuries. You have 3 broken ribs and multiple gashes on your arms and legs as well as severe head trauma." She said while she set the clipboard aside.

"What happened?" You asked, the question always on the tip of your tongue. Dr. Lowe looked at the man in the chair but he shook his head. "Well.. Uh. Unfortunately Y/N I am unable to disclose that. But Mr. Harriot is going to ask you a few questions and then we'll proceed with treatments." She said as she stood up. She gave you a polite smile and then left the room.

"Hello Y/N." Mr. Harriot said and you nodded in response. "I'm an investigator, the case involving your accident is a unique one, therfore Dr. Lowe could not disclose the accident details. Now, remind me the year that you remember it is." He said, leaning back in the chair. "2019." You said and he nodded. "Now Y/N, you had gone missing in 2019. Since then... It has been 5 years. Today's date is June 9th 2024." He said and your eyes widened. How long had you been out? In a coma?

"How long have I been in a coma?" You asked, shocked that you had been out so long. "Well, Y/N you were only asleep for several days, but you've been missing for 5 years. The medical professionals are telling me, that from your head trauma that you may experience memory loss, which seems to be the case." He said and you furrowed your eyebrows. Just like that? 5 years of your life was missing from your memory?

"You don't happen to remember anything, within the past 5 years?" He asked and you looked up at him, you shook your head. "What is your last memory?" He questioned, you noticed a small recorder on his lap. "I remember that my friend Marie and I were going up to her aunt's cabin to have a vacation. We had just finished our senior year of high school." You said and the investigator nodded. "And do you know where Marie is?" He asked and you furrowed your eyebrows, staring down at your lap you answered. "No. The last conversation I remember having with her was when she was going into town, a 30 minute drive from the cabin. She was going to get some things so we could watch the meteor shower because we were going to have a good view of it. After that, I can't remember a thing. Not even the meteor shower." You said and you looked up at Mr. Harriot.

"Do you remember the cabin? Or where it was located?" He asked and you nodded. "Shuttle View, 2 hours away from my home town." You said and he nodded. "Well Y/N, I will have the doctor come back to explain treatment. I will have to do some more investigating before I can explain anymore. Get some rest." He said with a polite smile and he left.

Well, at least you got some answers.
