What Splinter says is just my theory as to why Donnie is the way he is because he does have his moments where he shows emotions like a normal person.
Original Randy grunted as he tried to push the chair up and get rid of those chains that held him down.
"Okay! I get it!" Randy yelled in anger to the sky. "You wanted me to rest or else you would have nomi-me ran around and ruin the life I have here!" He yelled, no answer. He yelled in anger until he just gave up.
"You hate him the most!" He heard someone laugh, he looked up at a scroll that was showing him what Nomi was seeing and right now, Nomi seemed to be exposing everything Donnie hates about his family and Randy.
"Well yeah! Leo wouldn't have been been in that situation if Randy hadn't ran away like a coward!" Donnie yelled at Mikey while gesturing to Nomi. Randy sighed and looked up at the sky again.
"Can we at least mute this?" Randy asked, it became silent as Randy stared at all the havoc that was happening. It wasn't until Randy saw Donnie punch him square in the face. He groaned as the chair was slammed down to the ground. Almost like Randy himself was really there. "Ow." He said as he tried to push him up, he then felt himself picked up and put back into place. "Thanks." He said.
"YOU SHOULD'VE LET YOUR FRIEND GET HURT! THAT WAY YOU WOULDN'T BE HERE!" Donnie yelled as he was being held back by Mikey and Raph, just like in the real world, everything became more quiet then before. The birds singing, the whistle of the winds, everything became quiet as Randy saw regret replace the anger.
"If you don't want me here, fine." Randy heard Nomi say as he looked at the ground and balled his hands. He pushed his feet on the ground and tried to turn but just landed on his face. "Just turn it off." He said, the nomicon paused it while Randy just looked at the ground with an emotion close to guilt.
Back in the lair...
Donnie was told to stay in his room while his brothers and April went to go find Nomi. Donnie was looking at the ground while he was sitting on his bed without his armored shell on. He heard a knock on the door and only sighed.
"Come in." Donnie muttered, the door opened to reveal his father, Splinter. What they were both unaware of was that the nomicon slide in before the door completely closed.
"How are you doing, purple?" Splinter asked, Donnie scoffed as he fell onto his bed carefully.
"I sorta just blew up and used it mainly on Randy who didn't completely deserve it." Donnie said and covered his eyes with his arm. "Why am I like this to any one?" Splinter sighed and patted Donnie's shoulder as the nomicon listened.
"It is because of your fears." Splinter said, Donnie peeked an eye at his father. "Because your shell is more delicate then your brothers, you made an armor to protect it." Splinter said and gestured to the three sets of shells Donnie had created. "Do you understand where I'm going with this?" Splinter asked.
"No I don't, Dad." Donnie said as he moved his arm off his head and sat up to sit on the edge of his bed. Splinter sighed and put his hands behind his back.
"You let your fears drive you into making decisions. Even though blue chose to look for the black on, you blamed it on black." Splinter said, Donnie looked down on the ground. "However." Splinter said, Donnie looked up. "This doesn't make you a bad brother. Though you didn't chose the best words to describe your feelings but this while family knows how you deal with feelings." Splinter admitted.
"I'm just scared that if something bad happens to any of my brothers, you, April or even Mayhem, that I wouldn't forgive myself." He said, Splinter smiled kindly.
"So instead to blame some one else." Splinter said, Donnie looked at his hands. "I know I wasn't much of a responsible father back when you and your brothers were little..." Splinter said sadly, Donnie bit his lip. "But." Splinter said and got Donnie's attention. "If you, the one who doesn't show his love most of the time, is realizing he was wrong and is willing to talk to his father about it, I don't think I did much of a bad job." Splinter said with a smirk, Donnie did the same.
"Thanks Dad." Donnie said and hugged his father, Splinter was a bit surprised but smiled warmly and hugged his son back. Once Donnie was better, Splinter left Donnie alone, unaware of the Nomicon. Donnie sighed as he rubbed the back of his neck. "How am I gonna tell Randy sorry?" He asked himself, then he felt something nudge him. He looked down and saw the nomicon. "Okay, not weird." He said and grabbed the book, he grabbed the cover and opened it, only to be sucked in.
"HOLY BANANA PANCAKES!" Donnie yelled as he started falling, his arm then hit a cloud which caused his to start rolling until he saw his back turned to the ground. "No, no, no, no, no, no." He said repeatedly as he tried to turn around. He then closed his eyes shut. He waited for the pain to come but nothing happened. "Huh?" He said and saw black ribbons with red outlining had grabbed his torso.
"So your a soft shell turtle?" The nomicon asked, Donnie looked over to see an annoyed Nomicon. Donnie nodded as the nomicon lifted his hand. The ribbons began to twist Donnie until he was on his own two feet.
"Thanks." He said as he dusted himself off. The nomicon blinked at him while drumming a beat with his fingers. Donnie then looked to his left and his eyes went wide, it was Randy but he seemed more depressed than usual.
