Rory woke up to Alec's cologne. She caught a heavy whiff of it and her eyes opened at familiar scent. He grumbled when she moved to get closer.
His one eye peeled open, "Morning."
"Morning," she smiled, resting her hand on his bare chest.
His phone beeped behind them but he pulled her closer in protest. She laughed and ran a hand through his hair while he stubbornly kept his eyes shut.
"We have to work."
He groaned louder and buried his face in her neck. He rolled over her body to keep her pinned down.
"Alec!" she complained, trying to wiggle out from underneath him. She laughed as he refused to move. He joined her happiness soon after and pressed a sweet kiss to her forehead.
The door to their room opened and Jace walked in. He immediately blushed and awkwardly coughed. Alec looked up and behind him to see his parabatai looking at the opposite wall for Rory's sake. She made sure that the blanket covered her before standing up and gathering her clothes.
"What do you need, Jace?" Alec asked.
"Briefing in five minutes," he informed. He quickly shut the door and left them alone. Alec rolled onto his elbows and watched as she dropped the blanket, clipping on her bra and slipping her pants on.
She tossed his shirt at him, "Duty calls."
He caught the shirt and reluctantly stood up as well. He finished getting dressed when she was readjusting her jacket and tying her boots.
She went to open the door but it only opened an inch before he slammed it back shut, reaching around her. He pressed his chest against her back and kissed her neck passionately.
She hummed in delight before he stopped and opened the door for her. She quirked a brow, "What was that for?"
He shrugged, "A kiss a day keeps the bad attitude away?"
She laughed loudly as they made their way down the hall, "I like that saying. Although, I don't think it's entirely accurate with our jobs."
He sighed and agreed as they stepped into the ops center. Jace greeted them shortly before getting down to business, "Looks like Azazel is heading south. We just recovered four dead mundanes with his signature M.O."
"To catch a greater demon you summoned to the institute, defying all protocol and common sense?"
The trio looked over to see the inquisitor approach them. She looked a bit annoyed at their antics. She specifically glared at the blonde man across from her.
"Look, if you want to bench your best fighter with a greater demon on the loose, I'm happy to oblige," Jace conceded.
"No," she disagreed, "First, we vanquish Azazel. Then I'll figure out what to do with you. And while you may be talented, I believe Aurora to be our best fighter...not you."
She walked off and Rory turned to Jace.
"Even though your point was well made, she totally got you on that last part."
Jace scoffed and rolled his eyes while Alec smirked and gave her a fist bump. They talked logistics for another ten minutes before Clary joined them asking for an update.
"Azazel's attacks go as far south as the meat packing district," Rory informed, pulling up a hologram of the city, "Which is where the trail runs cold."
"With his ability to dematerialize, he could be anywhere," Jace said.
"Maybe we can help."
They turned their head towards Izzy. She looked significantly better as she gave Clary a big hug. The other three looked skeptically at the unfamiliar man she brought with her.
