"We tried tracking him together like we did with Johnathon but it didn't work."

"Magnus' wards are up," Rory reminded, "He must still be in city."

Izzy sighed in relief, "Thank the angel for Magnus and the warlocks."

"They didn't do it for us," Alec said coldly.

She rolled her eyes, "Teams are out doing block by block searches throughout the city...we'll find him."

They all turned back to check the other security measures. Rory was scrolling through the city wide camera feeds when she felt a sharp pain in her arm. She winced and turned her back to them. She made sure Alec wasn't looking before rolling her sleeve up and checking it.

A small drop of blood slowly ran down the length of her arm, the origin unknown. She tried to look for a cut but there wasn't any. There was no time to search any further since the monitor alarm went off.

"Aerial cameras," Alec informed.

They all huddled around a screen, watching a big red dot rapidly fly over the city.

"Is it Valentine?" Clary questioned.

Izzy shook her head, "No, but it could be some sort of wraith demon."

They rushed to grab their weapons and ran out into the street. They followed Izzy's GPS until they stood in the middle of traffic. A few cars ran the red lights and threatened to hit Rory, but Alec quickly pushed her out of the way.

"Thanks," she breathed, "Not used to heavy traffic, I guess."

He shrugged, "It's New York."

They were pulled back to the distraction when Izzy's GPS beeped. Jace swiveled his head, "Where is it?"

"It should be right on top of us."

"Alec!" Rory warned, pointing to their left.

They all turned around, briefly spotting a winged demon fly past. Alec pulled his bow and arrows out but it disappeared too fast.

"I've never seen a demon like that," Izzy said nervously.

They circled around trying to find the creature. Alec grumbled under his breath since he couldn't get a clear shot.

"Can you see it?" Izzy asked.

"What the hell is it waiting for?" Clary snapped.

"It's coming around for another pass."

Rory spotted it rushing towards them, screeching loudly. She directed Alec towards it, waiting for him to take the shot.

"Relax," Jace reminded.

"I got this."

He relaxed his arm and it hit the demon straight on. It exploded into bits all over a taxi.

"Nice," Izzy complimented.

Their victory was short as the split body transformed into smaller demons. The parts crackled and squelched as the claws emerged. Their eyes widened as they scattered among the mundanes.

"They're splitting up!"

One demon jumped at an unassuming mundane. Rory shot out a blast of magic and killed it before it could harm the unaware person.

The rest of them flushed out too fast for her to catch. Alec huffed and started walking back, "At least four demons are still unaccounted for. We need to notify all available personnel."
