"officer!" a loud cry was heard from the distance, changbin unknowingly waking up at the sudden voice calling for him.

he didn't know who it could be, especially at this hour. what could it possible be about that caused him to wake up from his peaceful nap? earning himself a tired groan, he slightly yawned before getting up from his chair, soon walking over to the direction of the voice.

when he was finally stood in front of the prison cell, he stared at the male in awareness. of course it had to be him all of people, who else could it be? "what now?" he tiredly asked.

"i need to go to the toilets!" hyunjin desperately whined once again, determined eyes staring back at him. this caused the older to sigh heavily, not wanting to deal with this problem even just after he'd woken up.

"you do realise you can do it here right? there's a reason why a bucket is there." changbin reasoned, folding his arms. "but try and do it quietly, people are trying to sleep-"

"i can't do it here!" he immediately interrupted, unpleasant eyes looking over to the bucket.

changbin raised his eyebrow in confusion. "why not?"

"it's obvious isn't it? it's unhygienic and disgusting! why would i wanna do my business in here? in a bucket? when there's people around me, what is wrong with you officers?" hyunjin slightly raised his voice despite his whisper.

"well, what do you expect? there's thousands of prisoners in here, how can we even manage to take each of them when who knows what they would do. we're not some caretaker." changbin argued back, just wanting to go back to sleep.

"whatever, you can't just expect us to stay in here all day. why can't we go outside? or take a shower or something? i'm not gonna be treated like some animal you know, either you take me to the toilets or i'm just gonna keep annoying you for the rest of the night." hyunjin said with a pout.

the moment the words left his mouth, changbin didn't realise he'd let out another sigh - soon giving in. "just to let you know, we do let you outside of your cell. that's only in the afternoon for a few hours and we do let you shower, you've only been in here for one whole day."

"that's true but i'm already tired of being stuck here!" hyunjin continued to reason.

"and you don't need to worry about that. just go back to sleep and we will let you get some fresh air but not right now, everyone's sleeping." he bluntly explained, already tired from dealing with him.

"i won't go back to sleep unless you take me to a proper toilet. where i can do my business in peace." the taller answered with a stare, causing changbin to nod seconds later.

"fine, be quiet though." he replied to which hyunjin excitedly smiled back in victory.

as hyunjin watched changbin search for the right keys to his cell, he couldn't help but stare at the officer's face up close. he was so beautiful, every part about him shone brightly in his eyes that he just wanted to reach over and touch him.

but there was a part of him that stopped himself, he couldn't do that. it was against the rules, the male was completely out of his reach, no matter how much he desired to embrace him. when changbin had finally unlocked the door, they soon linked arms again.

walking for a moment in silence, hyunjin briefly turned his head around to face the older, also admiring him from the side. there was so many questions he wanted to ask but he figured it wasn't suitable for him to do so, despite wanting to know more about him.

it wasn't a lie that he'd found himself yearning to learn more about the older.

"why did you wanna become a police officer?" hyunjin suddenly asked out of nowhere, causing changbin to glance surprisingly at him.

"what's with that all of sudden?" he questioned, not knowing why he was abruptly asking him.

hyunjin shrugged in response, the same question running through his mind. why was he so worked up in wanting to know more about him? they haven't met for long so why? what was causing him to suddenly act this way?

"i don't know, just curious." he soon answered, almost muttering to himself.

that was when changbin averted his gaze to the front, debating if he should just answer. after moments of thoughts, he soon opened his mouth despite not shuffling his eyes. "i've always wanted to be one ever since i was little. i took it after my father, he was a role model, i guess i just wanted to help people and keep criminals away from them." he replied, smiling a bit.

as he continued to talk, hyunjin found himself unable to stop staring at him. the more he learnt and interacted with him, the more he was becoming interested in him, he didn't know why; the older was just far too intriguing to him.

he softly smiled moments later, too fascinated with the conversation that he'd completely forgotten what it was he needed to do in the first place - neither did he seem to realise where they were going. "lucky you, i don't even know what i wanna do."

this made changbin eventually turn to look at him while watching his troubled expression. "yeah, it's not that easy. but i'm sure you'll find something, there's a lot of things you could do in this world. is there possibly anything you find interesting?"

hyunjin thought for a moment, soon wondering to himself. something he find interesting? "i guess... dance?" he then answered in uncertainty to which he smiled at him.

"then you can be a dancer! do whatever you love to do, that's what matters. you can also find other new things you might be interested in." changbin unknowingly encouraged, causing hyunjin to smile wider at him. he was right, there was so many other things he could do.

"you're right." he eventually said when he soon realised something. "that's if, after i get outta this hellhole." that was when changbin slightly chuckled at his words, making hyunjin stare at him unknowingly.

it was the first ever hearing him laugh, he'd never expected to hear it. it sounded prettier than he'd thought, he found himself needing to hear more. smiling even harder at the sound, he didn't realise they had already arrived outside of the toilets.

"we're here." changbin responded soon after, his unexpected voice snapping him out of thoughts. "i'll just wait out here."

"oh right, i needed the toilets." hyunjin almost mumbled, mentally facepalming himself for forgetting what he needed to do. he was about to enter the toilets when he soon turned back to changbin who looked up at him in confusion. "oh right, can i ask you something else?"

"go on." he strongly urged to which the younger just smiled.

"are you single?" he unexpectedly asked, causing changbin to raise his eyebrow in awareness.

"what? why are you asking me this? isn't that none of your business?" changbin confusingly questioned, not knowing what to say next.

there was silence for a moment, neither of them saying a word. just then, hyunjin sighed in defeat; deciding to just discard what he'd just asked. "never mind, pretend i never asked."

he was about to turn around to walk inside with a dissatisfied look when he finally heard changbin's answer, soon making him lift his lips into a relieved yet excited smile.

"yeah i am."
