Lark's POV-
I sprinted as fast as I could hoping they wouldn't be able to grab me. I heard gunshots behind me but just told myself to keep going if I wanted to live. I looked to my right and I could see the fear on my friends' faces. Doaklan was starting to get ahead of us but tried to make sure we were still by his side. Eden didn't look good though, she was breathing very heavily and had scratches all over her face from the tree branches. She let out a cry as she tripped over the brush underneath us. She faceplanted headfirst into the dirt while Doaklan and I kept running. I turned around to see a bloody-faced Eden lay on the ground.
"LARK! PL...PLEASE! HELP!"
I just stared, I didn't know what to do. I was frozen and in shock. Doaklan had stopped and turned to see what was happening. When I finally came back to reality, I began to run to Eden but I saw the Queen's guards running toward us and I stopped again.
"EDEN YOU HAVE TO GET UP NOW!", I screamed desperately.
I turned to Doaklan and then back to Eden. I watched as she screamed as they caught up to her and dragged her away by her feet. She was kicking and screaming and all I could do was watch hopelessly. I just stood there like a deer in the headlights until I heard Doaklan yell to me. But I couldn't make out what he was saying because my ears were ringing and it was like everything was in slow motion.
"LARK WE HAVE TO GO NOW, I'M SORRY WE CAN'T SAVE HER. WE HAVE TO RUN!"
Doaklan ran after me and grabbed me by the arms. He desperately pulled me away from the scene we had just witnessed, tears streaming down both of our faces and we ran until we reached the edge of the Bois de Boulogne forest, where it opened up to a park. It was completely deserted, which gave it an eerie feeling because I knew where everyone had been taken to.
