I watched as my friends escaped, happy to know they might survive, but disappointed to know they left me. I screamed and kicked and fought until I was too exhausted to move. I saw another group of guards chase after Lark and Doaklan and I prayed they would be okay.
I was restrained immediately and shoved into a crowded blue truck with a bunch of other people scared shitless. My blouse was nearly falling off and my hair was stuck to the dried blood on my face. I couldn't fix it though because my hands were handcuffed.
"Umm excuse me, like where the fuck are we going?"
One of the guards I swear gave me such a look, I wanted to sock her in the face. My question went unanswered and I sat there for about 3 hours in silence, until we approached a boat port. People began to scream and cry as we pulled in closer to see hundreds of people being crammed into a boat that was too small.
I tried staying calm as they ushered everyone out of the truck toward the boat. Mothers were holding onto their children and screaming. Out of nowhere, I saw a guard shoot a mother dead right in front of her children because she was resisting. My eyes widened and I stopped dead in my tracks, while watching the fear and anguish on her kids' faces.
There was so much screaming and crying and it felt like the whole world was spinning. I couldn't move, my brain couldn't process what was taking place. My ears were ringing and I began to zone out and get dizzy. All of a sudden I was dragged off to the side behind the truck. I snapped out of my trance and let out a scream as I felt a hand go over my mouth. I tried to pry it off but then I saw it was a woman gesturing to me to stay quiet. I listened and she spoke softly but assertively.
"I know you can obviously see that I'm a guard but you have to trust me and do everything I say if you want to stay alive. Got it?"
I nodded out of fear, and we got up slowly, and I followed her toward the boat. I stayed close to her even though I was still skeptical of trusting her.
We boarded and the boat was absolutely disgusting. It smelled and there were no bathrooms for anyone but the guards. I saw that there were many guards keeping everyone in check and I had to make sure I didn't step out of line.
"Okay everyone listen up now! You will address me as Sir Arian and do exactly as I say or there will be consequences. Right now you guys are on one of the many boats we are using to transport people from all over the world to Canada. The Queen has sent millions of her guards to round up you dipshits and bring you back to her. Everyone better fucking stay quiet cause I can't take no more of this screaming shit. Understood!?"
I watched in disbelief of how punchable his face was. However, I stayed close to the mysterious woman guard as she began to take me to the guards' bathrooms on the boat. She brought me in quickly and without anyone looking she rushed both of us into a stall.
I studied the contours of her face and she looked to be around her mid-20s. She had straight silver hair tied back into a messy bun and crystal blue eyes. She was gorgeous, I stared at her in awe until I think she could tell I was staring into her eyes.
"Hey snap out of it. I'm Elena, I'm one of the Queen's guards but I'm ready to start a revolution. That's why I'm trying to hide the fact that I'm conspiring against her, so I can get everyone to come together to revolt. It's ridiculous what she's doing and you have no idea what her plans are, they're insane."
"Well can't you just get close enough to kill her since you are her guard, after all, she must trust you?"
"It isn't that simple. Her daughter is only turning five in a couple months and she isn't old enough to rule obviously."
"Well, we can just try to get someone new into power, right?"
"We can't. The queen made a set of rules for the New World and declared the next Queen could only be her firstborn. So as of right now, if she were to be killed, we would have her daughter Aurelia ruling, but she's way too young."
"That's a pretty stupid rule. Kinda feel bad for her daughter. She has to put up with that evil witch."
"Anyway, we need to get back on topic. What I'm planning we do once we reach the Castle, is get a hold of Aurelia. Then we threaten the Queen by saying we will implant her with the chip. That way the Queen will hopefully come to her senses and realize what she's doing is completely absurd and stop this insanity to make us give her her daughter back."
I just stared at her, with confusion on my face but still trying to seem like I was following along.
"Ummm... yea just one problem."
"What?"
"What if it doesn't work. Like what if we can't get to Aurelia or the other guards stop us?"
"Well I know I can get to Aurelia. She has a huge play area that she stays in 24/7, and sometimes I go there and keep her company. I have a pretty good relationship with her, so I can get her to stay with us. As long as we are on the same page we might actually be able to do this."
"Okay, I trust you. I've already lost so much today, and I don't know where my friends and family are, not that my family gives a shit about me, but that's beside the point. What I'm trying to say is I have nothing left to lose."
"Okay well, I think we're gonna make a pretty great team uh-eh.. what was your name again."
