It was officially Friday, the day I was supposed to see that new movie at the cinema. I was in the passenger seat of Trish's red bug. Taylor, Riley and Stacy were in the back. We had the music blasting, and the top of her convertible was down. The sun warmed my cheeks but I still wasn't getting any tanner even with the trips to the pool. We sang along with the radio. It was up-beat and happy, complying with my mood. Trish now had friends and I survived my first days of high school having had only one near death experience. I had to say I was proud. It was nothing like Gossip Girl. Yes, Taylor made fun of the less cool kids, but we never let her when we were around. I was beginning to be known around the school. They even had a story for me.
"Her name is Anastasia Morfin. She lives in the Hunter house, is best friends with Trish and is dating or 'hooking up with' Josh. She's a member of Taylor's crew. The clumsiest girl in school and also the worst at gym. She's also attempting to run for saint in the school election."
Or at least that's one way I'd heard it told. I honestly could care less. I had my friends and my 'family,' and that's all I needed.
We arrived at the theater, and Trish and I offered to get seats while they got the popcorn. We found seats near the front by the bar so we could lean back and put our feet on it.
"Thank you Ana," Trish said.
"For what?"
"For making this the best week ever." Her eyes began to water.
"You're going to mess up your make-up," I scolded her like she did to me. She
swabbed her eyes with the bottom of her pink baby-t. The other three walked over to us handing out the snacks and sodas. I popped my Sprite into the holder, and placed the popcorn between my thighs. The movie was a 'chick flick'. I enjoyed these but I also enjoyed the movies I watched with Josh.
"Oh, my god, he's so hot," Taylor gushed.
"Yes, I suppose," I said haughtily.
"You don't think he's fine?" Stacy asked wide-eyed.
"No, he is," I said. But Mason is better I added silently. The movie ended and we met back at Trish's car after a trip to the bathroom, excitedly discussing it.
"Okay, Lucy's dress was pretty but I would do anything for Amber's," Stacy claimed.
"I got one just like it," Trish smirked.
"Noooo!"
"Yeeees!"
"Girl, you are gonna need to formally introduce me to your closet!" Stacy howled.
"Alright, alright," Trish mumbled before perking up. " And by the way, Kelly's dress."
"You just liked it because it was red."
"And?" She climbed into the driver's seat and started the car. I got in and turned on the radio. We began to sing and I actually knew the song.
