Oikawa's POV
We were all practicing while (Y/n)-chan instructed us on what we needed to change. When she finally got to me I wanted to tease her about leaving with the crows the day before but...something wasn't right.
She didn't even look at me and attempt to bully me as she normally would when we crossed paths.
I looked around to see if I wasn't the only one who noticed her sluggish behavior. It seemed as though the rest of the team had noticed but were internally battling whether to bring it up or not. Iwa-chan kept sending worried glances in her direction. The atmosphere around the coaches seemed a bit tense too.
'I've got to do something about this'
"So basically what you need to im-"
"(Y/n)," I stopped her mid-sentence. Her eyes widened, most likely due to the foreign serious tone in my voice.
"Are you okay?" I asked using my hand to push down the clipboard which was conveniently placed in front of her face.
She stared at me with her mouth slightly agape for a second, but quickly responded, "Me? Yeah, I'm fine, I should be asking that about you."
"You totally went all serious on me for a sec there," she said forcing a laugh.
This was painful to witness. I was about to ask again but she said she needed to go to the restroom and ran away from me.
For the rest of the practice, she kept far away from me. Focusing her attention on Kindaichi and Kunimi since they had a lot of places they could improve on.
'She can't avoid me forever...'

(Y/n)'s POV

'SLAM'

The door to the storage closet was shut in with force behind me, causing the whole room to go dark because I didn't switch on the light beforehand.
"(Y/n)..." I heard a voice behind me and immediately knew who it was.
"What Oikawa?" I said without looking back.
"I need to know... are you actually okay?" He sounded closer than he was before.
"I'm fine- I should get going now," I said turning around to face him. Which was a bad idea now that I think about it.
The place was dark yes but the window behind me let a sliver of moonlight hit his face. He actually looked really pretty, but...he had a frown. A frown that filled me with guilt. I was hit with the reality that I'd let my own problems affect the team.
"Oikawa are you okay?" I asked worry seeping through my voice.
"No, I'm not," he started, making direct eye contact as if he was daring me to look away, "something is hurting you. It's affecting you AND the team and it's my duty to figure out what's wrong as the team captain and as your... friend."
"I- I just don't want problems to become your problems, it's probably pathetic anyway," I tried to brush it off and walk away.
He grabbed my hand and lightly tugged me back, "The moment I forced you to join our team your problems became my own too."
I looked back at him momentarily squinting due to the moonlight, "I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize just let me help you," he said softly squeezing my hand.
"Fine...you turd," I shot at him with a weak smile.
I completely turned myself to face him and explained with an almost emotionless expression, "I don't play volleyball because I'm afraid to play in front of people. I've joined a team before when I was younger but it didn't end so well for myself esteem."
"It really sucked getting put down by the team y' know, because volleyball was the only thing that made me feel like a Star or a Superhero. When I practiced I felt the Main Character of a story, it made me feel special," I said looking at the ground and chuckling in disbelief.
I looked up and made direct eye contact with the brunette, "The first time I ever played with a team I had an anxiety attack. I don't like the attention, it scares me shitless."
"So that's why you didn't want me to tell anyone... man I feel like crap now," he said with an awkward laugh.
"You are crap," I retorted feeling a little better after sharing that with him.
"So what triggered you to think about that?" He asked.
"One of my old teammates moved here when we left middle school, apparently she goes to Karasuno, I saw her yesterday but didn't have the courage to talk to her," I said sheepishly.
"(Y/n), I'm glad you shared this with me," He said with a soft smile.
I was about to return the smile, but I noticed my hand felt an odd warmth. I looked down to see our hands tangled together.
My face immediately flushed red, "Dumbass let go of my hand!"
"Huh- oh! Sorry!" He said with his face also flushing red.
I quickly backed away from him and tried to open the door but it was locked.
"Did you lock the door?" I asked.
"...Yeah, that was part of my last resort plan," he said looking off to the side.
"You dimwit open it up so we can leave," I scowled.
