Learn to do it

During the first part of the day they would teach me, and during the second part and night we would travel. Sometimes sticking in lessons then.

On the first day of teaching was learning about Akira's childhood. "You grew up in a palace by the sea," Hunk said.

"A palace by the sea?" I ask.

"You rode horseback when you were only three," Pidge adds.

"Horseback riding? Me?"

"And the horse, he was white." Lance says, his blue eyes sparkling.

"You made faces and terrorised a lot of people in the palace?" Pidge says laughing.

"Did I terrorise you?" I ask, and they all nod except Lance. I find myself staring at him for a moment, but then continue listening to my lesson.

The next day they were teaching me grace. We came to a log over a creek. Lance walked across the log with ease.

Hunk put a stick on my head. "Don't slip, and don't let the stick fall. Do it the way Lance did." He says.

I take a couple steps and start wobbling. "Shoulders back and stand up tall." Pidge says.

"You're one to talk about tall," I reply and Lance laughs. It's beautiful, I want to listen to his laugh all day. It's bright and bouncy, but more high pitched than his normal speaking.

"And do not walk, but try to float," Hunk says and I tune back in.

I put my shoulders back and pay little attention to whats around my. "I feel foolish, am I floating?" I ask.

Lance smiles, "Like a boat." He takes the stick from my head and sets it on his and nimbly walks around me, causing me to start to fall backwards. But he grabs my hand and pulls me up on the log again.

I know my face is a bit red, probably from embarrassment of almost falling. "If I can learn to do it, you can learn to do it." He tells me.

Meeting people, I've never been great at this. "You give a bow," Pidge says.

I bow to her, "What happens now," I ask her.

"Your hand recives a kiss," she replies. I feel my hand taken and turn to see Lance bow a little and kissing my hand. Both of our faces turn scarlet.

Meal ettiqute. "Now elbows in and sit up straight." Hunk says. Ha straight, I think for a moment.

"Never slurp your stroganoff," Pidge says.

"I do not care for stroganoff." I say in a slightly stuck up manner.

"He said that like a Kogane," Lance and Hunk say at the same time.

Family names. Theres a book with old paintings and pictures. "This is Yorak Barnovick," Pidge says pointing to another similar looking old man with a beard.

They point at a few people giving nothing but names then point out, "And dear old Uncle Rolo wore a feathered hat." Hunk says.

"You know, I've heard he's gotten rather fat." Pidge says.

I think about the man and suddenly imagine a cat beside him, a yellow tabby. "And I recall his yellow cat," I say enthusiastically.

"I don't believe we told him that," Lance says, and Pidge shakes her head.

With a few of the lessons it was like that. I would recall something clearly, and Lance and Hunk would get confused as to how I knew.

Eventually we made it to Germany. "This is the boat we'll be riding on," Lance says, looking at the boat in front of us. "The only other people will be the crew, and there's only one room with one bunk bed. But it's the best we could get."

"At least there wont be a lot of people," I say, getting tired of almost constantly having to be around people without being able to get away.

We get on the boat with our small amount of possessions. We follow a crew member who shows us where our room is.

The room isn't very large, theres a small window in the middle with a bunk bed in the corner. There are a few extra blankets and pillows.

We put our stuff down and the boat starts to move.
