Once Upon a December

I get to the largest grandest house I've ever seen, though obviously long abandoned, its still magnificent. I walk through the gate and up the front stairs.

The doors have planks of wood nailed to them, and Shiro, the dog slides through a couple of the planks. "Shiro?" I call into the house.

I pull off the wood and walk through the door. I find myself in a large almost empty room with a couple tables with a few plates on the at the sides of the room.

I walk over and grab a plate. I blow the dust off of it. In the plate I see a young boy being held up by a woman with a haircut similar to mine. I shake my head and the image disappears.

I turn around, "Hello?" I call out. I start to hum a melody that I've known for as long as I remember. I softly sing, giving words to the melody.

Dancing bears, painted wings
Things I almost remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December

Someone holds me safe and warm
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory

Suddenly men and women appear around the room, all of the dancing. The women are wearing long flowing dresses of all colors, while the men are wearing suits, a few have shoulder pads with tassles.

I look at myself to find that I'm now wearing a dark grey suit with the shoulder tassles. The woman I saw in the plate walks up to me and dances with me. I continue singing, though a little louder.

Far away, long ago
Glowing dim as an ember
Things my heart used to know
Things it yearns to remember

And a song, someone sings
Once upon a December

I sing the last word and somebody burst through a door at the top of a large staircase. "What are you doing here?!" He yells. It surprises me so much I run up the staircase opposite where he is. He runs after me, two other people following.

I turn around when I get in front of a picture. "What are you doing-" he cuts off when he looks at me. He has tanned skin with darker messy brown hair.

There's another larger boy on his left, this boy has an orange bandana wrapped around his head.

Then there's a rather short girl with short light hair. She has large round glasses.

The first boy is staring at me like I'm crazy.

~Lance's POV~
I look up at the boy standing in front of us. I look from the prince on the tapestry behind him back to him. He has the same skin tone and hair color. He looks roughly the right age.

I lean in to Hunk. "Do you see what I see?" I ask.

He squints, "No." I point at the tapestry, "OH, yes."

~Keith's POV~
The short girl walks up to me, followed by the other two. "Are any of you Lance?" I ask.

"Depends on who's asking." The boy with sunkissed skin says. From up close I see some freckles on his face you can't see from afar. His eyes are a deep blue.

"Keith," I say. "I was told to come see you, for travel papers, though I can't say who told me that."

He starts walking around me, looking me up and down, the short girl seems to be studying me as well.

"Why are you circling me, what, were you a vulture in a past life or something?" I ask irritated.

Lance smirks, "Sorry mullet-"

"Keith," I deadpan.

"Whatever, it's just that you look an awful lot like..." Lance says.

"Nevermind," the short girl says. "You said something about travel papers?"

"Yes, I'd like to go to Paris."

"Paris?" The larger boy asks. I nod and Shiro bounds down the stairs. The guy picks him up and pets him, "Nice dog, I think he likes me."

"Keith, is there a last name that goes with that?" Lance asks.

I tap my head, "This is gonna sound crazy, but I don't remember my last name. I was found wandering around when I was nine years old."

"And before you were nine?" The girl asks.

"It's strange, but I don't remember, I have very few memories of my past."

The girl and larger boy nod at each other.

"I only have one clue, and it's Paris."

"Paris?" The larger boy asks again.

"Right, so can you help me or not?" I ask.

"Hunk, call me Hunk. And she's Pidge." He gestures to the short girl. Smiling at me as if we've been friends for years.

Lance walks up again, "Well, you see," he holds up some paper, "We have four tickets to Paris, one for the each of us, and one for him," he points to the little boy in the tapestry behind me. "Akira, we are going to reunite the grand duke Akira with his grandmother."

Hunk walks up now, still holding Shiro, "You do kind of resemble him." He says kindly.

"You have the Kogane hair." Pidge says.

"And Krolia's violet eyes," Hunk says.

Lance picks up my hand, "Even with those stupid gloves on you can tell you have Allura's hands."

I pull my hand away and put it on my hip, "Are you trying to tell me you think I'm Akira?" I ask lifting one eyebrow skeptically.

"I've seen thousands of guys across the country and none of them look more like him than you." Lance says a bit loudly.

"I knew you were crazy, but now I know you're just outright mad."

"Why? You don't remember what happened to you, and nobody knows what happened to him." Hunk says gently.

"You said you're looking for family in Paris and his only family is in Paris." Pidge offers.

"Have you ever thought of the possibility?" Lance asks.

"That I could be royalty? It's kind of hard to imagine that when you sleep on a damp floor. But I guess every lonely guy hopes to be a prince."

"And somewhere, one of them is." Hunk says.

"Wish we could help, but this ticket is only for the Grand duke himself." Pidge says. Kind of pulling the two boys away.

~Pidge's POV~
Seeing the look on Keith's face, I knew now would be a good time to act as if we're going to leave.

"I am not leaving behind ten million reubals." Lance says angrily.

"Trust me, we won't." I say.

"We're turning around too soon." Hunk says.

"No, but if it helps, just walk a little slower."

"Lance!" Keith yells.

"See, never doubt me," I say.

"Lance!"

Lance turns around smirking, "Did you call me?" He teases.

Keith runs down the stairs. "Well if I don't know who I am, who's to say I'm not the prince or duke or whatever he is. If I'm not, the Emperess will know, and it's an honest mistake." He says.

"Right, but if you are the prince, then you will have your family back, and you'll know who you are," Hunk says smiling sweetly.

"Either way it gets you to Paris," I mention shrugging.

Lance bows, "May I present his royal highness, the grand duke Akira." He says formally. Keith blushes a bit and picks up the small black dog.

"Shiro, we're going to Paris," he says smiling.

"No, the dog stays." Lance argues.

"No, Shiro comes." Keith glares.

"I'm allergic to dogs." When he says this Keith holds Shiro against Lances face. I stifle laughter.

They continue bickering, and I can tell, Lance finds him attractive. Lance tends to argue a lot with the people he likes. I look at Hunk and our eyes meet, and I can tell he sees it too.
