I woke up on the porch swing, where Gwen and I moved when we couldn't keep our eyes open anymore. After our groups fight, we all went our separate ways for the night. Things were still not the best, the tension during breakfast was undeniable. Harry and Olivia sat at the counter, away from everyone. The rest of us, except Peter, sat at the table, and had small talk.
"Where's Parker?"
Eddie Brock, now being Gwen's boyfriend, came with us on the trip and started the conversation that tore the trip apart.
"He hasn't left his room, maybe still sleeping." Ned responded gingerly, mouth full of an eggo waffle.
"Peter wakes up at 6 every morning, every day of the week for some internship. It's 10am, this isn't normal." Harry entered the conversation, "But, it's not unlike him to run away from issues. He knows things are tough so he's hiding in his room."
"Can you not be a jerk for atleast an hour?" Ned muttered, dropping his fork.
"Can you not kiss his ass for atleast an hour?"
Olivia slapped Harry's arm, Ned rolling his eyes and about to open his mouth and further the fight.
"Ok, everyone shut up, I'll go check on him." I finally said, getting up and leaving the table.
"Maybe he's sick, there was something off about those hot dogs last night." Gwen said as I walked up the stairs. You can always count on her to try and lighten the mood.Peter and Neds shared room's door was closed. I heard movement, but when I knocked the movement stopped and it was dead silent.
I just decided to open the door, and there was Peter struggling to put on his spiderman suit, his mask half on his head while he fixed his sleeves. You could tell he was frozen in movement, from the paranoia of someone walking in who didn't yet know his secret, but relief displayed on his face when he realized it was me.
"MJ thank god, I thought you were someone else. I got to go, can you tell everyone my aunt picked me up at like 6am because I was sick?"
"You're leaving? Why? Today is our last day." I walked over closer to him, shutting the door so no one else could follow and see.
"I got a call earlier, I missed it because I was sleeping but there was a distress signal at some SHIELD place back in the city. They need me to go look I guess."
"How do you even expect to get back? Its a 5 hour drive here and back, you can't possibly walk." I tried on, I knew he had to go but for some reason something was holding me back from letting him leave, it didn't feel right.
"Easy, catch a ride on top of a sky train."
There was an awkward pause where we both just looked at our feet, Peter again broke the silence as he was finally ready to go.
"Tell everyone that alibi, okay? You know I don't want to leave, but they need me." He looked into my eyes, but we both looked away before we held eye contact for longer than 3 seconds.
"I know. Well, good luck." I awkwardly waved as he side smiled, and made his way over to the window. When I shut the door to leave, I could hear him starting to say something, but stopped. I stayed at the door for a minute before walking away to see if he would go through with it, but he didn't.

"Don't touch anything, okay? Not that you would, but things here are really delicate. I would definitely get fired if we did anything." Gwen walked me through the halls of oscorp, her being an intern for the last year or so. I was as into science as the next kid kid at Midtown high, so I never missed the chance to see what people were working on.
"Yeah yeah mom, let me see the symbiote." There was a lot of buzz around that oscorp was handling a substance apparently that came from space, naturally, I wanted to be the first to see.
I ran over to the container, it was being held in like a toddler running to an ice cream truck. It sort of moved around, yet it doesn't seem like something that would be alive.
"You seem pretty excited to see our new specimen." I turned around to see Doctor Curt Connors, a well known scientist. His work was always being studied at our school, so meeting him was like meeting your favourite celebrity.
"Yeah, I mean, it's like nothing i've ever seen before." I said, trying to hold in my nerves.
"It's like nothing we've ever seen too, we keep it in this air tight container so none can get out. We don't know what would happen if it came in contact with our kind, we don't want to put it or anyone in harms way."
I read the papers next to it on the table, the equations were hard to understand at first, but I was able to work some of it out.
"It would bond, right? With someone's DNA." I asked, tapping on the glass, watching it flinch at my touch.
"That's what we think, you can never be to sure. I should get back to work, but it was nice talking to you. What's your name?" Dr. Connors asked, picking up a handful of files.
"Michelle Jones, sir. It was nice talking to you too."
"Curt Connors." We shook hands before he walked away.I stared at the symbiote, before hearing a voice all to familiar, talking softly behind me.
"Weird, isn't it?" Peter Parker, a camera hung around his neck, stood behind me with his hands planted in his pockets.
"Yeah, they don't even know what it is."
Things were still awkward with Peter and I, it had been a few days since he ditched the cabin, and since we had our first kind of, sort of small fight.
"The bugle wants photos of it, I want to get to it before Brock. I'm not following you, or anything." He awkwardly laughed, I stifled an awkward smile back.
Peter snapped a few pictures of the black goo, and stood back and looked at them before looking at me.
"Do you want to be in a few? I could use a model."
"Yeah, sure."
I stood next to the container, smiling and striking a few minor poses. I wasn't the best at photo shoots or anything, Peter could probably tell, but he didn't seem to care.
"That should be good, thanks Mj." He put down the camera, and stepped forward a few steps.
"Yeah no problem, how was um, that thing."
It took a Peter a few seconds to realize what I was hinting to, but he understand I was talking about the spontaneous SHIELD mission.
"False alarm, I should go and get these pictures printed." He started stepping backwards, smiling stiffly again, waiting for my response.
"Okay, yeah I should get back to, well I don't know but yeah, bye." I chucked, looking down at my shoes. We waved before he made his way out. As I watched him leave, I let out a long sigh.
"Why are you guys being so weird?" Gwen appeared at my shoulder, watching Peter too.
"We haven't really talked since the cabin, but it'll be fine."
"Are you really that mad at eachother? It's not like someone cheated. You just disagreed on something, it's normal."
"I know, I don't know it's complicated." I said, letting out another sigh, looking at Gwen with a side smile.
"Everything is complicated nowadays."
"Yeah, I know."
