Tonight was the night where we were having dinner with the Osborns. Olivia, Gwen, and I walked to Harry's apartment penthouse, Peter expected to be coming a bit later. As we walked in Peter's Aunt May greeted us with a smile.
"Hey girls, have a seat at the table. Hopefully Peter will be here soon with the cake."
"Thank you May, this all looks great." I said with a soft smile back, as we all took our seats at the long table.
This was the first time Olivia was meeting Harry's dad, so she was pretty nervous, but Gwen and I helped her calm down so she didn't look like a nervous wreck.
"Well it looks like almost all of us are here, where's the other guy?" Norman Osborn muttered as he and Harry walked in, both wearing suits with ties. Making me feel very underdressed, just wearing my natural hair and a causal sun dress. May smiled at the Osborns as they walked into the room.
"Peter should be here soon hopefully. He's always late, probably working."
Norman nodded as he walked over to the table, taking a look at the three of us, then locking eyes with Olivia.
"You must be Olivia, Harry has told me loads about you."
"Dad, please don't freak her out." Harry said as he walked over, grabbing Norman's arm, then smiling at Olivia, then all of us.
"Yeah, nice to meet you sir." Olivia breathed out nervously, but sounding more confident.
After that mildly awkward meeting, we all looked up as we heard a soft thud on the floor above us.
"Peter?" May called out as she slowly walked over to the stairs, peering upwards. I knew it probably was Peter, sneaking in with his suit on accidentally, it was predictable but not the best timing obviously.
Norman started walking over, so I jumped up, causing everyone to look at me.
"I'll go look, it probably is Peter so i'll talk to him."
Norman looked at me for a few seconds, then muttering,
"No, wait here i'll look."
Going against what I was told, I nervously followed Norman, Harry and May as they walked up the stairs to see what the sound was. We all saw nothing, so confused we walked back downstairs.
"Maybe it was just the wind or something?" Harry said as he took his spot back next to Olivia, smiling at her again.
Like on cue, Peter came quickly in and looked like he had just run a marathon. His hair a mess, his shirt all ruffled and his face looking winded and rushed.
"Hey everyone sorry i'm late, but I brought the cake." He lifted up a bag from a store, inside a vanilla cake with fruit.
"Well now that everyone is here, let's all take our seats and dig in." May walked over, holding a plate of food, putting it down on the table. Peter came and sat next to me of course, both of us smiling at eachother as a quick greeting.
May walked around the table, leaving utensils for everyone. She stopped as she reached Peter, looking down at his arm and frowning, seeing the big bandage from the night he came over.
"Peter, what happened to your arm?"
I looked at Peter, then looked down, everyone then looking at Peter as she searched for a fake answer.
"Oh, on the way home last night I tripped and my key got to close to my arm I guess." He chuckled fakely with the story, and I stifled a smile.
"Typical Pete" Harry said as he took a big bite of Lasagne.
"How did you say, that happened?" Norman said randomly, very solemnly looking eyes with Peter. The look on his face made me frown a bit, and did everyone else.
"I tripped, sir." Peter said confused, as we all looked at them uncomfortably.
Norman looked at Peter for another few seconds, then got up quickly.
"I'm sorry everyone, but I need to go,"
He took a quick glance at May, with a quick smile.
"This looks very good, I'm sorry I can't stay to enjoy it."
He then left the table, walking to the door without looking back, keeping a steady quick pace. Harry quickly followed after him as they walked outside, but we could still hear their conversation.
"Dad what are you doing? You're supposed to meet Olivia, and well everyone else."
"I'm sorry, something came up."
"But isn't this more important than work?, these are my friends, they were excited to meet you."
"Oh Harry, I know this is all about this Olivia girl. But you need to realize that whatever this is, she is just wanting your money. She doesn't like you Harry, you'll see i'm right."
We all cringed at that last remark, Gwen and I looking at Olivia guiltily as her eyes were red. We heard footsteps, then a long pause as Harry walked in. Olivia looked at him, and got up quickly, grabbing her purse.
"Thanks for sticking up for me, Harry." She looked at him with tears in her eyes, him searching for words to respond.
"You heard?"
"Everyone heard that creep." Olivia said, putting on her jacket.
"Hey, that creep is my father, if i'm lucky i'll become half of what he is. So just keep your mouth shut about things you don't understand." Harry exclaimed as she walked out the door, leaving a breeze behind her."
"Harry!" May yelled horrified at the words that came out of his mouth.
Gwen and I got up, taking one last look at Harry, then walking out after her leaving the rest in the apartment.

"Liv, hey, are you ok?" Gwen said as we reached Olivia once we were out of the building.
"Yeah, i'm okay." She said as more tears fled from her eyes. We looked at her, then walked over and pulled her into a big group hug.
"Don't worry about what those jerks said, Harry doesn't deserve you Liv. Neither did that Norman guy meeting you." I said with anger in my voice, of course I was really mad at the Osborns.
"Everyone has things going on that we don't know about, they're probably just going through something right now that caused them to lash out." Gwen muttered quietly as we all pulled apart slowly.
"You're lucky Mj, Peter is one of the nicest guys i've ever met." Olivia looked at me through tears.
I looked at her sadly, wishing I could tell them everything.
"Trust me, Peter isn't perfect."

I decided to make this the chapter where the Green Goblin storyline kicks off. Hope you all enjoyed :)
