Peace.

That word for me used to be me sitting by my oak tree in the hidden valley just to get away from my mother. But now peace is me sitting in my rocking chair reading my book.

Great, I used to do everything to get away from my mam and now I am my mam. Life sure does suck sometimes.

The roaring fire crackling in the fireplace along with my fur coat are the only things keeping me warm from the raging cold outside.

Last night snow began to fall harder and the temperature dropped significantly. It's a winter fucking wonderland outside.

Ava and I have spent the last week doing two things, buying more things for the house or rolling around in bed if you know what I mean.

As I flip to the next page I hear the door slowly creak open and quiet footsteps approaching.

" If you are trying to sneak up on me it isn't working." I say

" Well, it was worth the shot." Ava giggled.

She sat on the armrest and began to run her fingers through my hair. Twisting each lock on her pointer finger.

" Honey." She whispered as she planted a kiss on my cheek.

" Yes, baby." I chuckle.

She only calls me that when she wants me to do something.

"Could you go to the market, we need more milk?"

" Do I have to?" I whined," It is freezing outside." I added looking at her with my puppy eyes.

" Well I would go but my legs are still sore from last night." She grinned as she said that.

A smirk instantly pulled on my lips as the memories of last night played in my mind.

I closed my book and while holding her hand I looked up into her eyes.

Damn her eyes are beautiful!

" You know I can't resist you." I sighed as I took the sack from her.

I gave her a quick kiss and then set off to the market.

The cold was even more unbearable than I thought. My lips had turned a light shade of purple the second I stepped outside. So I pulled my coat tighter against myself tighter and tighter until I couldn't breathe.

As I walked through the market people smiled and waved at me.  Unlike Hawthorn people here don't know that I am a warlock so they are not afraid of me.

It's actually a very weird and exhilarating thing, not being the person who everyone points and whispers about. Not being the person who everyone runs when I look in their direction. I'm finally normal.

" Good morning Tobias." The grocer chirped.

" It certainly is morning Henry but with this cold, I wouldn't call it good." I laugh.
