Rain began to pour down on us as we ran to the temple. Naomi and I led the charge. Lightning flashed the sky and thunder roared.
When we reached the outer rim of the meadow where the temple sat we stopped and ducked beneath the tree line.
" What is the plan?" Naomi asked.
" I'll go in and when I give the signal you rush in." I explained.
" And what exactly is the signal?"
" You will know when you see it." I said.
I looked out at all the men. All of them were nervous and scared, but they were also very determined to stop the coven. And so am I.
I took a deep breath then ran across the meadow and into the temple.
The walk to the arena was filled with fear. I peered around every corner waiting for someone to jump out and attack me but nobody came.
When I reached the arena the whole coven was sitting in their usual spots. Even my aunt who never showed a drop of malice was there, a glare of hatred in her eyes.
" Ahh, Tobias how nice of you to join us." Lizzie smirked.
As always she is sitting on her throne.
" Where is Ava?" I growled.
She grinned as she snapped her fingers, the sound echoing off the walls. A few seconds later Maxine came out dragging Ava by a long chain clipped to her wrists. A steel knife pressed against her throat.
Her face is covered with black soot from the dungeons. Her dress is torn as well as cacked with soot and mud. A dark blue bruise has formed under her eye as if she has been slapped.
" Tobias." She croaked as she struggled against the chains.
" Don't worry baby you are going to be okay." As I said that, the whole coven let out long, high-pitched laughs.
Maxine shoved a filthy rag into Ava's mouth.
" Let her go." I snapped.
" Or what?" Lizzie hissed as she got up from her throne and stood next to Ava.
" I will destroy all of you."
" You and what army?" Lizzie chuckled.
" I am so glad you asked." I grinned.
I stepped back and shot a bright, blue spark into the sky. The spark exploded and smaller sparks floated down to the ground. Just as they touched the ground they disappeared as if they were never there.
" Was that supposed to scare me?" Lizzie smirked causing everyone else to laugh.
"No, that was just the signal." I smirked.
With a loud war cry, the men came running into the arena stunning all the witches. None of them probably ever thought the people would rise against them.
I blasted a fireball at Lizzie, but she blocked and like a scared rat she ran away. The rest of the coven began to fight the men.
