Dear Foster,

Do you know what I learned from you?

That it doesn't matter what people say to us. That doesn't make up who we are.

It's what we do with ourselves.

Do you know what I still remember you saying to me?

I remember. It was so long ago.

You told me, "I don't want to know who I am if you don't know who you are."

And do you remember what I said back?

I said, "I already know."

"Who you are, or who I am?" you'd asked.

Do you remember what I said?

Nothing.

If courage was infectious, I'd be sitting there beside you, laughing and smirking and playing like we used to.

But it's not.

And I'm still here.
