Sophie didn't even wait for an explanation.

She thought her world was already crumbling, but now it was dissipating into dust that was slowly blowing farther and farther away from reality...

Keefe couldn't be dead.

He.. he promised he'd come back. He'd promised her.

And he'd kept his promise before.

"Sophie!" The doorknob wiggled, and Sophie knew it was her parents, probably hearing her crying. "Sophie! Open up! We can explain-"

She grabbed the stack of scattered letters, some paper, and her pencil, and opened her window.

The breeze floated through her room, partially drying some of the tears on her cheeks. But that just reminded her of the cool green breezes that Keefe used to send through her mind, making everything so calm and steady...

Now her life was teetering on a knife-point, and if she fell...

She took one last glance at her door, tucked everything inside her cloak, and jumped out the window.

And for a minute she just considered letting herself fall.

But she could practically feel his voice in the letters pressed against her chest and cracked open the void instead.
