Monday morning, four days before Christmas Eve
"Wow, we needed this didn't we?" He asked as he looked back at the distance they did. Angela looked up at him as she gave a slight nod. "Well, if you need to get back I understand. I'll catch you later Cory. Thanks for tonight." She said before quickly walking away fast. Cory glanced to see her take off as he made a face and followed her.
"Angela? Angela? ANGELA?" He called after her as she began to pick up speed. Angela silently thanked herself for deciding to wear some form fitting jeans and tennis shoes as she just continued to run. She didn't dare look back as she let her legs and feet carried her to where ever they needed to go. She couldn't hear Cory anymore as her hearing seemed to tune all sounds out except for her own. It was then she realized that her own sound was of her crying. She saw the park and ran into it as her vision blurred before her.
She was about to run past a park bench when a pair of strong arms lifted her up into their grasp. Angela got a whiff of Givenchy cologne and knew instantly. "Let me go,Cory! Let me go, now!" She kicked and screamed as he held her tightly. "No! No, I won't! Dammit, I called you and called you but you kept running. Why?" Cory screamed in anger. "Let me go and I will tell you." Angela said as she tried to calm her voice down.
"Right, I let you go and you run again. Just like Shawn and Topanga." He said as he began to sniff back. Angela stopped moving in his arms as she tilted her head at what he said. "Topanga didn't run away. She had to move away." Angela softly said as Cory let her down and turned to face him. He looked down at her as she saw tears that matched her own. "But when she didn't want to wait for us to be together and wanted to move on, it felt just like she did. And now you want to run away. Now you want to leave."
Angela shook her head at him as she tried to explain. "Cory, I' m not running away. I was just running. I feel lost and heart broken with nothing left. My father is away over seas and I'm alone. I just felt like I needed to run to something or somewhere I can try to think and cope." She said as she watched him sit down on the bench.
Cory looked at Angela as he could understand somewhat of why she ran. He had to admit when he chased after her, running felt good. But he knew from Shawn, Topanga, and Chet that running never solved anything. He reached a hand out to her and exhaled a deep breath. "You are not alone in this. I'm here too Angela. We can face this together. We will face this together. Meet me half way. Please." He begged as his voice cracked.
Angela walked up some as she took his hand in hers. "Okay." She simply said as he pulled her into his space and onto his lap. Cory held her tightly as he felt his throat burn. "Promise me that if you ever feel the need to run again, run to me." Angela gave a nod as they sat there in the warm night air, feeling drained but hopefully heading into the right direction.
"Promise me, Angela...promise me... You promised me, Angel... Angel... Angel...ANGELA!" Cory called out as his eyes opened up. He sat up, still dressed in yesterday's clothes, as the shone through his bedroom window. He shielded his eyes with the back of his hand as he came to realize that he was back at his parents and it was all a dream. More of a flash of earlier this year when they bonded deeper than they both could ever dream.
He sighed as he heard the low hum of the clock radio relate how his mind has been confusing his heart, It seemed that he couldn't separate dreams from reality as all his dreams weren't fantasy but flashes of real memories they shared. And now she was gone. He couldn't believe that she was gone to another country. She ran away and instead of running to him like she said she would she ran to Italy to her father.
