The next day, after drinks with friends and fortunately leaving the club in one piece, I restarted my daily routine. I could not do everything while I was away in training and it was comforting to get back into it.

I normally get up at 5:30am to start my day. I do my usual bathroom routine inclusive of brushing my teeth and bathing, and then have coffee in my robe. I relax for a couple minutes on my phone and then get ready for work.

I live alone in a huge condo in Failsworth, Manchester, approximately 30 minutes from my workplace. It is a family neighbourhood, with multiple-bedroom and spacious houses. When I had purchased the condo three years ago, I was a hopeless romantic and dreamed of finding 'the one' and having kids. Now, with me following my lifelong career, the dream felt like what it was - a dream.

After contemplating life for a while, I decided to get ready. Today, I needed to be more practical with my attire since I might have to go out into the field. I kept my make-up light with a little of everything and lipgloss instead of my usual shade of lipstick.

For my work attire, since we may be going out into the field to investigate, I decided on comfortable leggings, a black t-shirt and animal-printed shoes. It was a little cold outside so I threw on a long grey camisole. I also had a pair of earrings to match my shoes, pair of black sunglasses and a beige handbag.

Looking at the time, I knew that I needed to go before I was late due to traffic. I got out the house and into my car, ready to start the day.

I arrived at work promptly at 8 like I always do. I had planned to do some paper work before starting the case given the day before. I exchanged pleasantries with everyone as I walked until I got to my desk, seeing Gaia and Chara at their separate spaces nursing coffee and trying to sleep.

"Rough night," I said sarcastically.

"Hush," Gaia said, lifting her head from her desk and then dropping it back immediately. "Oww," she whispered in pain as her head connected with the wood of the desk.

"Why did you let us drink that much," Chara said, sipping her coffee and adjusting her sunglasses.

"I did warn you. And have you met your drunk selves? You guys are lucky to be in one piece," I said, sitting down with a smile. "Don't you guys have a case to work on?"

"Blah blah blah," Gaia mumbled from the desk.

"Come on Gaia. You have to smile and wave and stuff at the bad guy," Chara said, getting up.

"Uggghhhh. I really don't want to deal with this guy today," she replied frustrated, to which Chara countered with a 'you-have-to' look. "Uggghhhh," she sighed, getting up. "See you later, Cal."

"Yeah. See you later," Chara waved. I waved to them as they left.

A couple hours into work, I grew frustrated as I waited for my partner. It's already 10am. Where is he?
