Opposites attract in normal situations but not in situations where lives could potentially be in danger. Two spies. Cases upon cases. Life or death situations daily.
Calliope "Callie" Andino never had it easy. Between proving herself to her family...
"Hello, Johnathan," I said to the twenty-one year old. He seemed a bit off right now, a bit nervous and unsure.
"Good day, Ms. Andino," he responded, and then left the hallway.
Weird.
I walk back to the kitchen where the Lady should be to not see anyone at the doors and no one inside. I looked outside to find her gazing at the yard from the porch.
"Hey, ma'am," I said walking to her. Getting a glance at the expression on her face, I asked, "Are you alright?"
"Huh, yes yes. I'm fine," she responded.
This was not the first time I had seen her do this. She would act normal for a period of time, and then be closed off, or he mind wandering somewhere else. I thought it was grief, but from the looks of it now, it looks like guilt with some other negative emotion.
She quickly took a breathe and said with a smile, "Let's go back, shall we?" She walked through the door first, the other guards behind her. I followed, doing whatever was necessary for the rest of the day.

At the end of the day when we were working a case, Alex and I usually met up at one of our houses to compile evidence and facts.
I had changed from my work attire to an oversized sweater, some simple black leggings, and some socks.

"You brought something this time," I said as I let him in. Surprisingly, today, he came to my house with food.
"After yesterday, I could not pass up the opportunity to one up you," he responded.
"Well, then," I said, rubbing my hands. "Let's see what you've got."
I watched as he spread everything out on my dining room table, a little of everything is what he brought over. Chinese takeout, beer, pizza, some soda, my favourite snacks and some coffee in case we needed to stay up.
"Didn't know what you felt like tonight so I just got the basics," he said with a light chuckle.
"So, I'm a basic girl now," I teased.
"I'm not saying that," he replied with a smirk. "I wouldn't say that at all, babe."
"Whatever," I said with an eye roll. "Let's just eat. I'm hungry."
"Me too. Suspect Number three didn't feed you?" he asked, referring to Lady Diane. I did not know why he suspected her in the beginning but we now referred to her as that, along with her husband and first-born son as one and two respectively.
"Nope. It's only so long one can eat cobbler and tarts,"
"She hasn't moved on from baking yet?"
"Nope."
"Glad it's you and not me," he stated, grabbing a box of takeout food and heading to my living room. "I would not last only eating those things everyday."
