I heard a door open from my ear piece, bringing up the thought in my mind that my partner may get caught inside that room. The guys I were distracting kept talking on random subjects, trying to gain my attention while competing with each other.

"So I said-"

"Shut up, dude," said the more muscular one to the other.

I decided that while they were bickering to excuse myself to go to the 'bathroom'.

Luckily, they both pointed to the hall Alex went down. I snuck past the bathroom, just as gunfire could be heard outside. Loud gunshots and shouting could be heard.

A couple guys ran swiftly past me from the direction of the office. I looked the way the came from and did not see Alex. After a couple minutes, he showed up.

"Come on. We gotta get outta here." His language surprised me. I looked up at his face as he grabbed me and saw the look of shear panic on his face.

"We have to move. Things are going to get really bad in a few minutes."

"What? Why?" I asked as he lead me back outside to the main area of the restaurant where the gunfire was taking place.

We hid behind the bar where the bartender was nowhere to be found. I looked at Alex for and explanation but he kept looking over his shoulder and over the bar at the people in suits shooting and cursing at each other. The two guys I were distracting were also shooting at the opposing side.

"What did you find?"

"I'll tell you in the car." he said quickly. He then looked over the bar to find an exit. Unfortunately there were none since the gun fight was in the middle of the restaurant, blocking the exits.

Customers and personnel were all hiding away under furniture from the brawl that was happening. The bullets were firing in all directions, chipping the walls and the furniture.

"Shit." Alex said, unexpectedly. "Okay. For now, let me give you a summary."

I turn to him and try to listen with what is going on. "Yeah okay, what's going on."

"Turns out, the bar and a lot of other things may be mafia-related."

"Ma-who."

"Stella has been hiding stuff, from both me while we were together and everyone else,"

"We have to get outta here," I said aloud.

The gunfire died down. The loud Russian and Italian slurs went with it. Alex looked over the bar. I followed.

Bodies littered the floor, blood, bullet casings and strewn and destroyed furniture were everywhere. The guys I distracted, included in the body count. Patrons can be seen coming out of their hiding places, still visibly shaken up and scared, but fortunately, unhurt. Nowhere to be seen was Stella.

Someone had called the district police department, but we left before they showed up. Thankfully we left unscathed. Alex drove in the opposite direction of the office, silently, for an undetermined time. I could only hear the car noises and our breathing throughout the entire car ride.

We then stopped at a luxurious apartment building. He stopped in front of the building for the valet, took out the stuff we had and got out. "Come on, I have to show you something."

He then began to walk into the building, expecting me to follow. I did so quickly, with everything I had with me, wondering where we were.

The security guard behind a huge mahogany desk in the building looked at Alex coming in, "Welcome back, Mr. Diakos. Your packages have arrived and are in your condo as we speak. Also, a number of calls and messages came throughout the day and are on your answering machine."
