FLASHBACK - WISCONSIN/ILLINOIS BORDER - 1931 - EVENING

Chase and Judith are happily travelling in a very luxurious car. Chase is dressed in a black suit and bowtie and Judith is wearing a long, white dress. They are so excited and happy, looking forward to their future. They are driving back from Wisconsin to Chicago, Illinois, where they both live together.

Chase hums along with the tune currently broadcasted on the radio - Wayne King's Dream a Little Dream of Me - while Judith is reading a magazine. Judith lightly places her hand on her stomach, patting her baby bump in a soothing manner.

All is calm and quiet on the road, they are the only vehicle for miles. Chase turns to Judith and she looks over to him and smiles gently. They really are in love. Chase looks down and places a hand on top of Judith's, their engagement rings clinking against one another and they chuckle.

Suddenly, they feel the baby kicking and both gasp, totally amazed. Chase notices he's not paying attention to the road and grabs the wheel with both hands hastily. 'Oh my!' Chase exclaims nervously, 'Was that..?'

'Yep!' Judith giggles excitedly, 'I'm thinking, if it's a boy - Pablo,' Chase attempts to hold his laughter at that ridiculous name. 'And if it's a girl - Elizabeth. Those names are great.'

'I agree.' Chase begins, 'But... Pablo? I'm not sure.' He tries to let her down with this gently but doesn't know Judith is only teasing him with that name.

She smiles. 'What? Why not?'

'Because the poor kid would be embarrassed at the name. I would be embarrassed if it were my name.' Chase argues playfully.

Judith rolls her eyes sarcastically, 'Not as embarrassed as he would be if he were named Chase!' She jokes. Chase gasps, mouth and eyes widening.

'Excuse me! That name runs in the family,' He snaps back.

'Yes, that's right,' Judith smirks, 'the family that doesn't exist.' Chase chuckles and shakes his head at her. 'I'm sorry if I offended.' Judith apologises, she hadn't meant to hit a nerve.

'Don't be silly,' Chase replies quietly, lifting her hand and kissing it. Judith's smile grows wide.

It's quiet again in the car as Chase focuses on the road and the music while Judith pays full attention to her magazine again. All of a sudden, as Chase looks at the road ahead, he spots a woman's figure right in front of him.

Panicking, he swerves to the other side of the road and stops the car just in time before anyone could be hurt. Judith freezes, startled and confused, unaware of what Chase had seen.

'Look, I know I was picking on you about your name, but I was just teasing. Please don't be upset, I love you and your name.' Judith stutters, thinking this was all out of the blue. Chase was the best driver she had known - although she'd only known her father and Chase to drive.

Chase is scanning the perimeter around him, searching for the woman. 'No, it's not that,' he replies, spaced out, 'there was someone there.'

'What are you talking about? I didn't see anyone,' Judith furrows her eyebrows and quickly glances around at the empty road. She wonders what's going on with Chase as he hasn't looked her in the eye since or asked whether she was okay. This was unusual for him.

'Well, I swear I did,' Chase replies, taking off his suit jacket and opening the car door. He steps out and finally looks at Judith, 'just stay here and I'll go look.'

'Chase, what are you talking about?' Judith yells at him, finally growing irritated. She just wants to go home, they'd been away for a weekend now and they had been driving for so long.
