Inside the church, Chase looks around then walks through the hallway, observing his surroundings carefully with each step. He finally gets to the room that Rose was held in, but when he walks in, he notices that the room is completely empty.

Rose is nowhere to be seen and, as he turns to leave, he sees the priest's head lying on the ground in a bloody mess, detached from its body. He sighs, hardly phased by it at all. Chase turns to look at where the priest had been sitting previously, and sees the body, covered head to toe in blood, fang marks in different areas.

As he goes to inform the others, the door suddenly slams shut on him. He steps back and studies the door - he didn't really expect that but he still remained calm. He'd seen much worse in his lifetime. He hears slight whimpering within the room and immediately turns to see Rose, curled up in a ball in the far corner of the room, her hand outstretched.

Her chin is dripping with blood and the veins underneath her eyes show vividly. She sobs. Chase keeps his distance, he understands her pain and struggle.

He attempts to comfort her, 'It's okay... Whatever you're feeling right now, it's okay. And it will get better. Trust me.' Chase now understands why they always get Arthur to do the initial babying and comforting. Chase, in his opinion, was shit. He just didn't know how to act gently to others when he had been mistreated in the early stages of his transition. He had been taken advantage of. Why should he bother with the newbies?

Rose glares at him and chuckles. It takes all of Chase's strength not to get angry. Sometimes he felt like the Hulk - so sensitive and walking on eggshells to stay normal.

'You have no idea,' Rose growls at him. Chase laughs at her and shakes his head.

'No honey, you're wrong. This, I understand. I understand exactly how you feel right now,' He pauses, he wants to tell her how much he's hurting, but he can't. He still can't trust himself, or her. 'Believe me.'

Rose, angrier now, 'Trust you, believe you?! Why should I? I don't even know any of you assholes. You've all-of-a-sudden woven your way into my life, and you're all telling me how I should feel and what I should do,' She breathes out and begins to cry again, 'I never thought I'd say this, but I just wanna go home.'

Chase reprimands himself for feeling sympathetic toward her. And for feeling anything in general. Stop it, he thought to himself, stop feeling. Feelings have almost killed him many times before.

'Look, I'm sorry but I-we can't allow you to go home. You're dangerous,' Chase was talking to her bluntly, as though Arthur was good cop and Chase was bad cop. Rose stared him out when he called her dangerous and he shrugged, 'No offence. Do you even know what's happening?'

Rose is finally beginning to listen to him. Chase moves slightly closer to her and sits at the edge of the bed. He doesn't like being too close to people - something that Sidney likes to make fun of and take advantage of. 'What's your name?' Chase asks, breaking eye contact.

Rose studies him. He was handsome, was his hair dark brown or black? It was almost a mix of both, if that even made sense. His eyes were dark brown, but they changed colour a lot. Like when he sat down on the edge of the bed, Rose swore they were lighter - almost yellow. She hadn't seen anyone else's eye colours change. She answers, 'Rose.'

'Well, Rose,' He meets her gaze again when he repeats her name, 'I'm Chase. Um, I'm probably not the best person to say these things and to explain it. Arthur was always the one to do it when it was happening to us. I'm just going to try and copy him?' He pauses, looking deep into her eyes, without meaning to. Her own eyes had changed colour, back to the normal dark brown - something they had in common. 'You are... well, you were in transition to be a vampire.' Rose hyperventilates, she's so overwhelmed. 'But it's okay, it's okay because-'

Rose covers her ears, crying hard and screams, 'I'm a fucking monster! I'm a monster!' She repeats the words over and over, but they soon become unclear the more she cries.

Chase tries to calm and reassure her that everything will be okay. But, the more distraught she becomes, the more her powers begin to unwind. It was dangerous, no doubt. Chase notices this and backs up. He stands off the bed as the edges light up in flames, surrounding Rose.

'No, fuck, fuck, fuck,' Chase whispers. He attempts to get Rose out of her state, 'C'mon, we need to get out of here! Now!' He wastes no time. He was actually thankful that he was with her when this happened rather than the others, he was the most experienced in this field. Judging by past events, Chase knew they didn't have long left in the church house.

But Rose doesn't listen to him and continues screaming. The fire on the bed quickly begins to spread and the priest's body is engulfed in the flames. Chase panics now as she doesn't listen and shouts for the others to assist him.

They all appear at the door, all of them carrying out risk assessments in their heads. Chase can feel himself getting angry at them. 'What are you all standing around for? For fuck's sake. This place will be up in flames and, if you want to stay around a while, that's on your ass. I'm out.'

Arthur speeds over and picks Rose up, much to her protest, and disappears from the scene. Eric disappears. Then Sidney and Chase check for any traces that would lead people to them. Once they are sure the place is clear, they disappear too.

Each of the rooms of the church have went up in flames as moments go by and the fire alarm rings out until it comes to a stop. The priest's body is still lying amidst the fire.
