Dahyun was rubbing her eyes as she made way towards the dining area and noticing her presence, I mumbled, "Breakfast's almost ready."
"Hmmm," she just hummed and proceeded on sitting by the dining table but as I busied myself with the preparations, I could feel her gaze boring onto my back.
I then announced, "Let's eat."
She just stared at me but neither said or did anything so I served her everything. When I was done, she asked, "Isn't this too sweet?"
Oblivious, I asked back, "Which one?"
Dahyun looked straight onto my eyes and said, "You."
"Really? This is what I do for my younger siblings though," I retorted, lying.
Her mouth then formed an 'o' and she let me off the hook – or she pretended to, at least.
I spent the rest of the day on studying while Dahyun, on the other hand, busied herself with the set of movies stacked in the living room.
I fluttered my eyes open and yawned. I couldn't even remember how I have fallen asleep while studying. I rubbed my eyes – trying to get all the sleepiness away and that was the only time that I noticed a thermos sitting on my desk with one of my sticky notes plastered on it that said:
Coffee to keep you awake!
PS. I left some dinner on the oven. Just reheat them!
A smile formed on my lips as I mumbled, "Who's the sweet one now?"
I stretched my arms and decided to wash my face but my reflection on the mirror was already enough to shake the sleepiness off me. Of all the places to write encouraging words on, she decided on writing on my face using my own marker.
Left cheek: Fighting!
Right cheek: Do your best!
Forehead: Park Jimin, jjang!
Chin: Never give up!"Urgh," I grumbled but even without looking at myself on the mirror, I was sure that I was complaining with a smile.
I looked back to the living room and saw a beautiful figure sleeping on the sofa. My heart swelled in happiness upon knowing that she decided to stay without any of my begging.
I laid her head on a pillow and I got the blanket she covered me with and draped it over her. She stirred only to make herself more comfortable. Once I was sure that she was sound asleep, I went back to my desk – only to get a maker for revenge.
The next morning, it was me who couldn't control my laughter as Dahyun ate breakfast with a black nose and drawn whiskers.
"What are you laughing at?" she asked as she munched on the pancakes I cooked.
"Nothing," I shrugged. "I just had a discovery."
"What is it?"
"Cats like pancakes the most for breakfast," I said with a straight face.
"Really?" she questioned genuinely and I laughed out loud at her cluelessness.
"I am so sorry," I wiped the tear that formed at the corner of my eye from too much laughing.
She squinted at me and she had seemed to discover the source of my amusement when she saw her reflection at the serving spoon. It took a few seconds for my mischievousness to register at her. When it did, her eyes were already shooting deathly glares and the next thing I knew, I was running around my own house with our laughter echoing on the walls.
By the time she had caught me, we were having wrestling for breakfast.
