CHAPTER 20: DOUBT AND REASSURANCE

Asmo had caught up with Satan, who was almost half way through the door to his bedroom.

"Satan I'm your brother... Your present state got us worried... What happened with you, Pamy and Solomon when you lashed out like that... Do you think Lucifer didn't notice?"

Satan breathed and slowly exhaled as his brother slowly pointed at the reasons to why he was addressing him.

It seems his anger was obvious. Even after all this year's practicing his facade of a smile had payed off, this time around his emotions escaped him and he could be read like an open book.

Now, he felt that if he could beat up himself to death, he would; with no hesitation, but that wouldn't help bring Pamy back to his side. All this time he has been making mistakes; loosing control, as if he was still his ignorant younger self. As if those years of thoroughly training himself into controlling his monstrous emotions were for nothing.

He could still remember the look on Lucifer's face as he noticed something was off with him.

He could still remember the face of terror on Pamy as her hands slipped from his and she was already spinning away; the same face she made when she saw him in his beastly state back when the Darkness had engulfed him.

He told Asmo all of it, and all the time, and all the time Asmo's face never wavered; it remained serious; an expression not everyone had knowledge of.

Asmo only became like that when he was thinking deeply.

Once Satan finished explaining the reason for his outburst, Asmo calmly breathed in and as neutrally as he could, he looked straight into Satan's eyes and hugged his brother into a tight embrace.

"It is not your fault... Everything will be all right... So, there's no need to be hard on yourself like that..."

Satan sighed,

"As if it were easy to accept it Asmo... You can't imagine the pain and wounds I inflicted on her... I almost... I almost killed her... The tears streamed from her eyes while these hands stole the breath away from her... My palms can still remember how I squeezed unto that fragile neck, being unable to stop and afraid it would snap any moment... It was... Terrifying..."

There was a pause before Satan continued.

"I saw what I was capable of. I came to the realization, that Pamy was not safe with me and would NEVER be safe with me..."
