I felt better on reaching the cafe. Lights were hanging from the ceiling, near the bookshelf. The bookshelf covered the whole walls. There were all the books, divided into sections. The music was playing, I am not a fan of jazz but I liked what was playing. There was wooden flooring, wooden tables, chairs, bookshelf's, counters, bowls, mugs, serving trays without any paint on them. All brown.
I found a good book, "The book thief." While every one was busy in talking, I finished half of the book.
That night I slept without difficulty, maybe because I was tired. Days passed in which the gang went to some lame party, bowling alley and stayed a night at Jeremy's. I managed to refuse all of it. Jeremy's a little rich so they had tonnes load of fun but I needed to recharge my social battery.
Weeks have passed and I haven't gone out with the gang. I am scared that I'll have weak bond with them. And will never have any one by my side when I need them. This thought started eating me up.
Mom have given me lectures about how I am so quite, closed up, sad and lonely all the time and doesn't care to hang out with my friends a little.
What do you know Mom, your daughter have social anxiety.
I was under the comfort of my comforter with the air conditioner on 22° Celsius, drinking coffee and reading a book named "Confiding in each other."
Nora and Flynn were two strangers, broken and sad with no one to confide in. With welled up eyes they stole glances to of each other. And when their eyes met. Magic happened.
If only I could confide with someone like that.
I heard screaming and shouting again, the guys must be here."May I come in?" I heard Jeremy say. I looked at the door, there he was poking his head out of the door. We don't talk much but he's a nice guy. Kind of intimidating thou. But it's kind of sweet when he talks friendlily.
"Yeah," I said and put aside the empty cup on the studytable which I was on the side of the bed. I didn't needed a bedside table so I put a study table there instead. I sat up straighter.
"What brings you here." I asked when he opened the door and I saw him alone. I thought Luke would be there too. He saw me searching someone behind him.
"Why can't a friend come to just... hangout?" huh! Yeah ofcourse. No one ever came to me for a selfless reason. And does that matter? I don't open up that easily which in turn makes them see me as a quite, decent and boring person.
I looked at him with narrowed eyes, "Uh hun, what's my last name?" I regretted it the second it came out of my mouth. He knows Carver's.
"Brooke," he said grinning. Of course...
I rolled my eyes.
"You knew it because of Carver."I told him matter-of-factly.
"OK, you caught me. But I am here because you know I like peace too and cause I know you'll be in your room peacefully reading a book and sipping at your coffee then why not join you rather than sulking in my own room. Plus you can use a company. And show me some more of your art work." My ears turned red. That was so sweet. I am touched. A wide smile came on my face immediately. Only Carver appreciate my hardworking and understands my choice of living.
"Thank you," I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear as I lowered my head and said that to him. He chuckled.
"What?" I looked up at him, confused.
"You are so shy, like very shy." He chuckled it a little again. My cheeks heated up again. My heartbeat was faster now and I had this weird feeling in my chest. I took a long breathe and looked away.
