Merlin's POV

For the next few weeks, Mordred and I would sneak around the castle to see each other. While I would be trying to resume my duties to the king, I would be pulled into the dark by Mordred. Simply because he wanted a kiss or a hug. I would gladly give him what he wanted.

He was taken by surprise when I started doing the same. Pulling him away from patrols and such. He smiled at me when I pulled him into the guest-chamber while he was walking past. I closed the door and pushed him against it. I kissed him deeply, not wanting to pull away. Soon he had to return, I left a few minutes behind him. Only to run into Arthur in the hallway.

"What were you doing in there?" He asked, growing suspicious.

"I--uh--was looking for rats. I was about to go to your chambers to look too." I smiled innocently at him.

"I worry about you sometimes Merlin."

"And I wonder the same for you, my lord," I said, walking away toward his chambers.

He came in shortly after me, I had to pretend to look for rats. While I was looking, we heard a knock at the door. We both turned to look, "Come in," Arthur said.

The door opened and Leon and Mordred came in. Mordred looked to me and blushed, I simply smiled thinking back to the events in the guest-chamber.

"Sire," Leon and Mordred bowed slightly.

"What's going on?" Arthur asked the two.

"We caught someone trying to smuggle Morgana and Cenred out of the cells," Mordred told Arthur.

"Who was it?" Arthur asked hesitantly.

"It was another knight," Leon paused, "Sir Owain"

Both of us stood there in shock. "Where is he?" Arthur asked with anger. Leon said he was in the courtroom, awaiting a sentence. We all headed to through the halls. Mordred walked by my side behind the other two. I brushed my hand against him, static shooting through our bodies. Mordred smiled up at me.

We reached the room and entered. Owain was thrown to the ground, forced to kneel to the king. I split from Mordred to stand by the king's side, he moved back to Leon's side.

"Owain, you have always served me well. Why would you try to smuggle prisoners out of the cells?"

He sat on the ground and didn't speak.

"Owain, tell me why. Or I cannot show you any mercy."

"I do not want your mercy."

"So be it then. Owain you have been found guilty of treason and I sentence you to death. You shall be hung tomorrow at dawn." Arthur said with sadness mixed with anger. I know it hurt him greatly to do that.

Morgana had been trying to escape ever since we captured her. If we didn't need answers, she would've been sentenced to death a long time ago. Gaius managed to make a potion that would stop her from using her magic. Arthur was still trying to get her and Cenred to talk about their plans to destroy Camelot.

Part of me thinks that Arthur just doesn't want to kill his sister. I don't blame him, but it may have to be done. Arthur was about to dismiss everyone when the warning bells started ringing. I looked at Arthur than to Mordred.

Don't do anything rash this time.

Don't worry Emrys, I've learned my lesson.

A guard came running in the room, "All three of the prisoners have escaped sire."
