Dear Diary,
I'm really scared. I tried playing music for Juleka unaware that my dad came home earlier than he usually did. He stormed into our bedroom, yelled at us and took the guitar, smashing it into pieces right in front of us. He threatened me that if I played anything again or went out of line, he would kill me. I got splinters, it hurts, we're terrified...

The evening sky was starting to darken slowly.

Yet again, their father went out with friends. Leaving his children all by themselves.

Luka took this as an opportunity to find the confiscated guitar and play some soothing music for Juleka as she was feeling extremely low because she was yelled at earlier.

"Luka, are you crazy?! What if dad catches you with the guitar?!" The girl said with fear.

"It's ok. Dad won't be back for a while. He always stays out late with friends. Plus, I wanted to show you my skills!" He expressed with a sense of pride.

Luka prepared a mini-concert for his sister. Tuning the strings and preparing his voice. He was excited as Juleka would be the first person to hear his music.

For an hour, the siblings were in a world of their own. The young boy played endlessly while his sister danced. For once, a sense of harmony was felt through the apartment. They never stopped giggling.

"Luka, you're so talented!" Juleka proclaimed.

With a genuine heartfelt laugh, her brother replied "Thanks Jules, I'm so glad!"

Unbeknownst to them, their father was marching towards their room. Full of anger and spite from hearing the noise of that guitar.

He bust open the door, in turn frightening the children, with Juleka trembling likes there's no tomorrow as Julian marched straight towards his son. Luka was petrified. He clearly wasn't expecting his dad to come back super early and smelling of drugs.

"Give me the guitar. NOW."  The man demanded, towering over Luka's frame.

"But dad, I'm really good! Let me play-!" Before Luka could finish his sentence, their father roughly snatched the guitar off him.

"You asked for this, boy." His father coldly said, and before Luka could comprehend what he meant by that he raised the instrument over his head.

"WAIT, DAD NO!" Luka begged.

SMASH!

The instrument Luka grew to love and cherish was gone. Broken into several pieces of wood and string. He sobbed to no end as Juleka watched in horror.

"IF YOU EVER PLAY ANY GODDAMN INSTRUMENT OR DISOBEY ME AGAIN, YOU'LL WISH YOU WERE DEAD! I'LL END YOU!" Julian screamed, slamming the door behind him.

Luka scurried to the broken guitar trying to place it back together, refusing to believe it was gone. But it was.

Juleka ran over and embraced her brother as he broke down.

The concert was never finished.
