I still remember, 3rd of December. Me in your sweater. It was a chilly December and your dumbass self forgot to wear multiple layers of clothes since you were in a rush. You sat next to Billie on the bus. You clasped your hands together as you blew hot breath on your palms, freezing.
"Dude, what were you thinking? Wearing just a long sleeves and pants? Really?" she joked, making you scowl at her.
"I know, I know. I was in a rush and forgot to bring my sweater." you explained, making her chuckle. She then rummage through her things, handing out her sweater.
"Here. Wear this." she said. You then slipped on her sweater, warming you slowly.
You said it look better on me that it did you.
"That sweater looks better on you than on mine." she complimented, trying your hardest not to blush. It's just a friendly compliment.
Only if you knew, how much I like you.
"Thanks." you smiled, looking down before you both talked all the way to the school.
The bus stopped and you both got out of the bus, walking towards the school.
But I watched your eyes as she walks by, what a sight for sore eyes.
Brighter than the blue sky
She's got you mesmerized, while I die.
As you both got to your lockers, her eyes immediately fell on the most popular girl in the campus, Heather. Her gazed followed her as she waved at Billie, making her wave as well. You felt a pang inside your chest, hiding it behind your smile.
"She's so beautiful. I wish I could ask her out." she whispered. You sighed and closed your locker, keeping yourself from crying.
"Look, just ask her out before someone ask her. Don't be such a wussy." you teased, making you both let out a laugh.
"Alright. I'll ask her out soon." she replied and you both head to your respective classroom.
---Time Skip brought to you by Billie's neon green and black hair---
The dismissal bell rang, meaning your last class is over so you turned to Billie's seat. But to your surprise, she was nowhere to be found. You walked out your classroom to find her talking to Heather.
You stopped your tracks, knowing she's asking her out. You felt like wanting to snatch her and stop her from asking her out but in the end, you don't want to lose that friendship with her. So you sighed and turned your heels to go home by yourself, not bothering to tell her that your off to go home.
----
As you were doing your homework, you heard a soft knock on your bedroom door. You took off your earphones and walk towards to open the door, revealing your best friend with red teary eyes. She then hugged you and you got surprised, but then soothe her.
You sat her down your bed as she sobbed.
"What happened?" you asked while removing some of her hair out of her face.
"H-Heather." she sniffed.
"She didn't say yes.?" you trailed off, making her nod and cry more.
"Hmm, yeah sure I like her, but I love you." she slurred, making you look at her with disbelief.
"Are you drunk right now?" you asked, making her smile in approval.
It's just the alcohol. It's not true. It's. Not. True.
"Go home now oh my god, you need to rest." you insist but she placed a finger in front of your lips to shut you up.
"I'm going to sleep here. So..." she trailed off, slowly leaning in front of you.
This is wrong. I shouldn't-
But it's too late. Her lips are now planted to yours. You let yourself melt into the kiss and pinned her down to your bed.
You both broked the kiss and she smiled, tucking a loose strand behind your left ear.
"That was awsome. I never knew you're a good kisser y/n." she complimented, making you chuckle.
Why would you ever kiss me?
I'm not even half as pretty.
But before you get the chance to reply, she's already asleep. You tucked her in and you paced back and forth, overthinking.
A part of you hope that she forget the kiss but then there's a part of you that she meant that kiss. You ran a hand on your hair before going back to your homework so you can finally sleep.
Weeks has passed, and you never told her what happened between the both of you. She was busy being around with Heather lately but you shrugged it off, thinking that she and Heather was being all friendly and stuff.
She doesn't even bother to be with you anymore. After all, you're just a friend.
But one day, you saw Heather and Billie together, hand in hand. They look so in love, shattering you into million pieces. You almost dropped your belongings when you saw Billie's favourite sweater being weared by Heather.
You gave her your sweater, it's just polyester,
But you liked her better.
I wish I were Heather.
You called her out but she just looked at you like a complete stranger. She didn't even wave. Nothing. Making you numb all over.
You liked her better. And I turned into a stranger.
