4. Big Boy Pants
For me, today was a normal day. Just another daily routine of tired kids, cafeteria food and crabby teachers. But for 3 particular boys today was not a normal day. Today was the day they would have to put on the big boy pants and head out into the real high school world. Perks and all.
They may have gotten through sophomore year in the states, but from what I've heard on the world wide web high school in the states is all fun and games.
My high school is a war zone. The second you walk through that threshold everyone becomes a mine waiting to be stepped on, and once activated no one cares how badly it hurts, you're just pushed around and judged until they feel better.
So here I was, sitting in a cold desk at 7:30 in the morning as my eyes were begging for a moment of darkness.
I've been very tired lately, I put all my free time into relaxing as much as I can. Even getting as much as 12 hours of sleep doesn't do me good, I still wake up feeling drained of energy.
If only I could lay my head down for one moment-
"All right class, you have a free period today. But remember your essay is due Friday."
Thank the Lord above. I lay my head down on my desk and the world around me fades to black.

"Macy?"
The light shake of my shoulder forces me to wake from my sleep. I force my eyes open, the fluorescent lights stinging my eyes.
"Wow you scared me."
I turn my head into the direction of the voice, revealing the hem of a black Nirvana shirt and black skinny jeans with rips in the knees.
My eyes drift up to the tall blonde boy who's name is slowly coming to mind, "It's Luke right?"
"Good job." He gestures for me to get out of my desk, "The bell rang a minute ago, I was walking by and I saw you."
I slowly stretch out of the desk and grab my book bag, "Thanks, that would have been embarrassing."
He chuckles and leads me out of the classroom, "Yeah no doubt."
I walk with the boy down the hallway, he seems to be going to the place as me.
"Do you know where room 178 is?" He pulls out his schedule, focusing on the class he is headed to.
"Actually thats where I'm going now."
His face lights up as he crumples his schedule and shoves it back into his backpack, "Great!"
Luke was a lot more social than I thought. When I met him yesterday he didn't seem like he wanted to talk, but then again I don't think anyone did.
"So, how is your first day so far?"
He scratches the back of his neck and fixes the front of his hair, "Alright I guess, my first hour teacher seems like a jerk."
"Mr. Waltz" we both say simultaneously.
We laugh at this for a good minute before arriving at our destination.
The rest of my morning classes went by in a breeze. The only classes I had with the boys was second hour with Luke.
Now it was time for lunch, I quickly decide that I should sit outside, the fresh air might wake me up a little.
I find an empty table in the shade under a big tree and pull out my chemistry homework.
"Oh. My. God. Macy!" I feel the table shake as my friend piles into it, crowding me and fawning over something I couldn't quite understand.
